Since some days I have problems with Bug #1174448 - "Black screen after second return from standby". During testing bug #1174448 I found, that there are no text consoles (tty 1 to 6) anymore.
If I switch to the first text console (with Control-Alt-F1) the display goes into standby. Other text consoles are also black.
The text consoles only work, if openSUSE Tumbleweed boots into multi user mode (parameter systemd.unit=multi-user.target in Grub2). Text consoles also show boot messages, but become black if the display manager starts. I use the latest Nvidia package for openSUSE Tumbleweed (x11-video-nvidiaG05-450.57-38.1.x86_64). I could solve the problem with setting GRUB_GFXMODE="1920x1080" (was "auto" before) in /etc/default/grub. I have done this in YaST -> Bootloader -> Kernel Parameters -> Console Resolution: 1920x1080 (was "Autodetect by grub2" before).
It means, that Grub2 does not auto-detect the console resolution correctly. Anyone else with the same problem? Greetings, Björn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-support+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-support+owner@opensuse.org
