That makes sense now that nntp.opensuse.org openSUSE forums on nntp protocal "nntp.opensuse.org" are not functioning.
 
I am not using any proxy currently on the network here.
 
I replaced alt.os.linux.suse with nntp.aioe.org and am now having success :)

Do you actually have a proxy on your network?

There is no such server as alt.os.linux.suse, it is all wrong. It is a
group, not a server.


The first step is to decide and configure a _valid_ news server, and
none of those you post about are valid.

And your problems with email are not related to your problems with news.


Try with, for instance:

nntp.aioe.org


I use News.Individual.NET, but it is 10€ per year. Worth it. For
testing, try first with aioe.
