how to prevent /etc/profile.d/ files from returning

Hi, all -- I'm running Leap 15.2 (and this has been happening for a while), and after a round of updates I have to go back to /etc/profile.d and wipe out files that I don't want (alias.bash + ls.bash in particular). Different from adding my own run commands to profile.local.sh thereunder, I want to NOT get the stock stuff. Problems with websites not reachable

Most likely, since one of the last upgrades of Tumbleweed, I am having problems connecting with several websites. All opensuse.org websites {forums,downloads,www}, to mention a number are unreachable. They give a timeout in Firefox. When I try to connect from my telephone with Firefox to one of these sites, I get a connection. Also when I use Leap 15.3 the connection gets established. I can connect to other websites, but also other websites are unreachable. Anyone else having this problem? Could it be an IPv6 problem? -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf

Dear SUSE experts, I have damaged Tumbleweed system with following mount (older karnel boots but crashees when loading init processs not to find /bin/sh or /bin/init) /dev/sdb1 mounted as /boot/efi /dev/sdb2 and /dev/sdb7 used as swap /dev/sdb3 mounted as / /dev/sdb4 mounted as /home /dev/sdb5 mounted as /boot /dev/sdb6 mounted as /var/log /dev/sdb8 mounted as /usr /dev/sdb19 mounted as /mnt/spolocny Upgrade crashes at initialization new install with not formatted partitions of original system crashes when downloading packages this can be mitigated by changing one of several "inter partition links" via using simple correcting cd /mnt/var/cache/zypp mv packages packagesOLD ln -s /mnt/home/packages . in terminal but then some packages do not install correctly. Most of incorrectly are docs and gettext *.mo files for applications but some are critical like grub, dracut, ruby, yast or zypper. After install there is not possible to upgrade due to sdb3 is listed as none system at boot even if it is correctly mounted in the terminal. Is there any possiblity to recover system or am I forced to format /dev/sdv3 at least and do clean install, yet Thank you for any help I look forward hearing from your Yours faithfully Peter

Setting up /var/tmp as a partition fails with error 32. Not understanding the issue.

The disc is an SSD with the first partition raid used as /root. The rest of the disc is free. So I wanted: /var/tmp 100 GB /tmp 50 GB /swap rest of the disc (here 64 GB). Now, this should be easy. I attributed EXT4 ordered and noatimes. No problem to create /tmp and swap. But I get an error message for /var/tmp and I do not understand why: command '/bin/mount -t ext4 -o 'data=ordered,noatimes' '/dev/sdd2' '/var/tmp'' failed: stderr: mount: /var/tmp: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdd2, missing codepage or helper program, or other error. exit code: 32 Why would this be the case? Would a RAID partiton restrict the number of primary partitions two two? (three in total?). Tumbleweed: lm-sensors installed and working, but fanspeed plasma object and other sensor object do not work

lm-sensors and the setup including the new directory is installed and working. I had to reinstall my TW, before all worked error free. But now, no plasmoid seems to "see" the sensors. As a last resort I am trying to install Windows 10 on the partition it was on. I do not do much with this OS, so it is not a big deal. I hope this also reinstates the entry in the BIOS to boot from the storage device. Fingers crossed. It all did not work, so I finally cleared the whole disk and installed Windows 10. After that I got an entry in the Boot Options to boot Windows. Now I am installing Tumbleweed and Leap 15.4 again. This succeeded. All in all the problem was caused by not having the USB stick with the iso file in the USB port, which did not show a Boot Option for USB in the BIOS with UEFI, only in the Legacy I found a USB entry, so I used that to install Leap 15.4. [a/r/i/...? shows all options] (a): *a Problem occurred during or after installation or removal of packages: Installation has been aborted as directed. How do to get Windows back in the grub menu?

I have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 and I installed Tumbleweed next to it and got a grub menu in which I could select which one to start. After installation of Leap 15.4 beta, next to Tumbleweed and Windows 10 I only got Leap 15.4 and Tumbleweed in the grub menu. I tried in both openSUSE systems to run "yast bootloader", but no Windows. I found a recipe to get other bootable systems in grub by running the command os-prober and update-grub, however os-prober does not show any sign of windows. So update-grub will not add Windows in the menu. How do I get Windows 10 back in grub? Also the Bios does not show an entry to boot Windows. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf
