Ok sounds good. Although I see that a lot of existing summit pages already exist in the wiki - https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:Summit . Plus a lot of committees were created last time. What do you think we should do now? We can either create new Portal for Summit13 and archive these existing pages and use only for us to reference upon, which in turn would create less confusion for the people (if any). Or we can start building upon the existing pages?
It maybe a good idea to see if we can re-shape the existing information to make it work for this year rather than starting over. Looks good. To begin with, if there are people agreeing with the new design/layout thats great. Also, if you are unable to find someone to code the CSS/JS for the new design, let me know I will try to do it as soon as I can (have my GSoC too :)). Also, see if you can do something with a slider. You can get some inspiration from http://conference.opensuse.org. Same applies for other topics on the page (especially sponsors, see how thats done). Lastly, it will be great to see how each topic looks like instead of just seeing the 1/3rd of the site :D. If you need to bounce off some ideas, feel free to ping me :). P.S I understand it might get too much of work, but if you can get two-three different options (color schemes) that would be awesome :D. If not, its not the end ;).
Thank you

No worries, I only used Nevo because I was able to get it configured. I know nothing about how our current website handles slideshows. Just a proof of concept. I am also coming up with 2 other possible layouts in case we want to tweak the website further. I have the idea of having a main page that includes all the links to our info without having to scroll. My good friends, I have been working on a new and different version of a proposal for the summit website. Please take a look and share comments. It looks very vanilla, for obvious reasons since there is not a lot of content to put there yet. But take the organization and colors as a template idea. http://i1108.photobucket.com/albums/h414/anditosan/Mockup1_zps405de807.png Thank you -- Andy (anditosan) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-summit+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-summit+owner@opensuse.org

I like Trello, for me it has one big disadvantage, people have to ask for permission to help. I just don't like that idea. With the wiki to do list anyone can pick a task and help, just log in and claim the job, get it done. You do not have to ask for permission to help or announce that you are going to help, Just do it. Yes, there is a certain control that happens when people as to be able to help in that they are maybe more likely to get the task done, but I am not convinced that's the best way to go about it.
Yes, sounds good. I will get going with the information I am aware of.
Thanks for creating:
I have bookmarked this page for future work reference. By the way, do you think Trello would be a good option to getting a todo list with live changes?

Just for the record, trello can be used publicly in order to view content, comment on content and also vote. The only "restriction" is that non-members cannot create new cards (as in new tasks) - as far as I understand that's due to the structure of trello itself. I totally see how this might be problematic for volunteering. That said, I find trello quite useful and well, if I were the org team, I would like to be able to identify the people volunteering in our conference. Plus it's super easy, as soon as someone comments on a task, to make that person member of the trello boards and problems solved. Talking about entertainment, do we get the discount for the disney parks too? (If I understood correctly from the website, susecon attendees should be eligible for sth like $30 discount on tickets.) Hi All, In regards to the openSUSE Summit Tickets List, we might consider something similar to oSC13 we had in July. First of all, are we going to allow partners to do some presentations? In case yes, the following ticket table I got from oSC13 brochure might work then. Ticket List Suggestion * GOLD Partner Logo on welcome banner, in main and secondary conf rooms 3 min talk time at closing Unlimited inserts in conference bag Up to 10 professional conference tickets Non exclusive sponsor video display at entrance * Silver Logo in main and secondary conf rooms 2 min talk time at closing Unlimited inserts in conference bag Up to 6 professional conference tickets * Bronze Logo in workshop rooms Up to 4 professional conference tickets * Community Partner Booth space available free for Free/Open Source organizations * Student should be able to get free tickets or a discounted price * Media Partner Logo on our site Press badge & access to professional event * All sponsors receive promotion through the openSUSE online media Booth space is available for all sponsors Sponsors can post open positions on jobs board In case not, we are not going to allow partners to do presentations, we might still be able to use the above table without the presentation option. I'll talk to the SUSE Marketing Executive team tomorrow to see if we can get some marketing materials to give away with a ticket purchase. About the tickets' price, I have no idea about how much we should charge them since I don't know all the costs involved in the openSUSE Summit. I'll discuss that with Robert as well once he gets back in the office. What you think? Please, feel free to share your feedback/suggestion as well. Oooops confusion.....
* GOLD Partner Logo on welcome banner, in main and secondary conf rooms 3 min talk time at closing Unlimited inserts in conference bag Up to 10 professional conference tickets Non exclusive sponsor video display at entrance
* Silver Logo in main and secondary conf rooms 2 min talk time at closing Unlimited inserts in conference bag Up to 6 professional conference tickets

* Community Partner Booth space available free for Free/Open Source organizations
These are sponsor levels that is something different and work is on the way to detail the sponsor stuff possibly also having combined offers with oSC14 The basic premise is that everyone gets into the Summit for free. However, those that want to support the event by making a "small", $50 for example, financial contribution can buy a ticket. The ticket would need to be advertized through the SUSE shop. In return for buying a ticket we will give those that buy one something "special" in recognition for the support back, obviously what we give back should cost us less than the price of the ticket ;) . In the past we had supporter tickets for $50 and professional tickets for $200. The prices and names are probably still OK. Question is what "special" stuff can we give those that buy supporter and professional tickets? Ideally we'd have stuff laying around in Provo that we can give away and doesn't cost the project anything. If we cannot get free stuff from SUSE marketing we need to come up with something that is reasonably cheap to produce/purchase. We have recently approved trademark for clothing, maybe there is an avenue there to get something near cost. In summary, see what you can get out of the Marketing folks to include as a token of recognition for ticket buyers or checkout stuff that is reasonable quality but also reasonable in price. Also a professional ticket could be 5 supporter ticktes for example. the price range from $10-$50 for support tickets sounds reasonable and $200 for professional tickets as well.

I've been talking to Kent (SUSE Marketing) and he said he might be able to give us some SUSE backpacks and he was going to check it for me. He is in Barcelona this week so I suppose I'll get his response by next week. I'll keep you posted about it.

Hi All, I got good news. The SUSE Marketing team is giving us 100 SUSE back packs to be used as a gift for the people who decide to contribute purchasing a ticket to help us out. I would suggest starting the ticket price around $30,00 since the cost of the back pack is $26 but I'm open to suggestions since this is the first time I'm helping with openSUSE Summit. What you think? -Gilson

I've contacted the CompSci departments at Daytona State College and UCF and have sent emails out to all the LUGs in the state that I could find. I haven't gotten any response from the LUGs, but the professors at DSC and UCF will be informing their students of the summit. I was able to get honest to God interaction from the Pensacola LUG on IRC. They're interested but not sure if they can either attend or help out.
