Your mail hasn't been answered yet. It took a little longer...
you can safely use the kernels under
ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/kernel-2.2.16
chose the kernel that you have installed (default should do it).
Execute lilo after you upgraded the RPM!
