Hi folks, simple question: Is it possible to run YOU (YaST Online Update) from the shell or must it be done from within YaST2 ? For any reasons I cannot run YaST2, no idea why. But I'd like to update my system regularly with YOU to be up to date with bugfixes and patches. A simple "you" on the shell doesn't work. What do I have to do ? thx. Stephan

Try "unset DISPLAY" before starting yast2. Maybe that helps. Jens -- Jens Wolfgarten jens@wolfgarten.com http://www.wolfgarten.com

simple question: Is it possible to run YOU (YaST Online Update) from the shell or must it be done from within YaST2 ? No, you can run "yast2 online_update" to perform an online update. Like someone else suggested, you can run in console mode with unset DISPLAY A useable TERM variable for PuTTY is export TERM=xterm to make YaST2 behave and look correctly. To select an FTP server in text mode press "cursor down" (took me some time to find out ...)

Just out of curiosity, where does one find the command line options for yast2? I noticed the command line options were promoted during the installation, I just haven't quite figured out where to get a comprehensive listing yet, as yast2 doesn't appear to have a man page. Suggestions? TIA, Monte _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get your free @yahoo.com address at http://mail.yahoo.com
