The SUSE Security Summary Reports do not list md5 sums or download URLs like the SUSE Security Announcements that are released for more severe vulnerabilities. Fixed packages for the following incidents are already available on our FTP server and via the YaST Online Update. - star This update fixes a directory traversal bug. (CVE-2001-1267,CVE-2002-0399) - cpio This update fixes a bug in cpio in function safer_name_suffix() which leads to a crashing stack. Exploitability is unknown. (CVE-2007-4476) - emacs This update fixes a bug in parsing GIF images that lead to a crash of emacs. (CVE-2007-2833) - krb5 This update improves the patch for the previously released security update of krb5 to fix CVE-2007-3999 and CVE-2007-4000. (CVE-2007-4743) - pptpd This update fixes a bug found by regression tests. The error appears in code processing out-of-order sequence numbers of some MPPE implemen- tations. (CVE-2007-0244) This only affects openSUSE 10.2. - mysql This update provides fixes for a remote crash (CVE-2007-3780), a bug that allows to query tables without proper authorization (CVE-2007- 3781) and the possibility gain update privileges without popper autho- rization (CVE-2007-3782) - qt3 This update fixes a buffer overflow in qt3 while handling UTF8 char- acters. (CVE-2007-4137) Exploitability is unknown. Please restart your GUI application after the update to reload shared libraries. - balsa This update of balsa (a GNOME mail program) fixes a buffer overflow that can occur while reading data from an IMAP server. (CVE-2007-5007) This bug can be exploited to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the user balsa runs with. This package does not exists on enterprise products. - id3lib This update improves the handling of temporary files. Therefore only the most important ones will be listed in detail here. - kernel x86_64 - CVE-2007-4573 The Linux kernel for the x86_64 architecture is vulnerable to a local privilege escalation. Exploits for this bug are available and can be used by local users to gain root privileges. There is no work-around known other then disabling the login of untrusted users or adding the patch (http://lkml.org/lkml/2007/9/21/513) from up- stream on your own. New and tested kernel packages from SUSE will be available at the begin- ning of week number 41 earliest. The "kernel-of-the-day" snapshot which is available from ftp.suse.com/ pub/projects/kernel/kotd/ will also include the fix as soon as it was applied to the branches.
