What I've missed to say: you can of course use these 'traditional' libraries, if you load the needed appropriate MPI dependency by hand. To fix this in the package, two things need to happen: 1. the default dependency tracker needs to ignore all dependencies not in the standard search path. 2. the MPC dependency needs to be added some other way - possibly 'by hand'. Only doing 2. would work, but it would not avoid that an unneeded dependency is possibly added. This is due to the heurisitcs zypper applies.
