Ich habe eine Asus EeeBox 1006 gekauft und OpenSuse 11.2 installiert, mit den Online-Updates. Die Video-Karte meldet sich als "Asus_B208_M92MPlus_DDR2 M92 DDR2 64bit 500e/480m" und habe folgende drei Probleme: 1. Am Mauszeiger sind meistens 3 bis vier pixeldünne waagerechte Linien dran, manchmal auch an kleinen Buttons wie Knöpfen der Fensterleiste. Ich hänge mal zwei Screenshots an, bei denen man das sieht. 2. glxgears terminiert sofort mit der Meldung "drmRadeonCmdBuffer: -22. Kernel failed to parse or rejected command stream. See dmesg for more info.", aber in dmesg steht nichts drin. glxinfo zeigt "direct rendering: Yes" 3. Ein Win4Lin-Win98-Emulator (per ssh -X von remote gestartet) öffnet das Windows-Fenster, terminiert aber in dem Moment, in dem es das Passwort abfragt. Soetwas habe ich noch auf keiner Hardware und keiner X-Umgebung gesehen Die EeeBox kommt vorinstalliert mit Ubuntu 9.10, das benutzt den fglrx-Treiber und hat dann zumindest die Probleme 1. und 2. nicht... Windows will sometimes remain black until resized, others will leave garbage on the screen when moved around. Redraws for underlying windows will often result in corruption of the top level opengl window. Hello list I've been incommunicado for a while. Overloaded with work commitments and had a non-working X server on my home computer architecture (Alpha) for quite a while. But now the X server (v1.7.1) works on Alpha, and hopefully I may have a little bit of spare time, so might be able to participate in the radeonhd community again. Looking at the commits for the last few months there seem to be noticeably fewer commits to the radeonhd driver than the ati driver. Would it be a valid perception that efforts to continue developing the radeonhd driver have dried up a little recently? (Or is that an artefact of radeonhd supporting only recent radeon cards?) Is there any intention to get KMS into radeonhd? That is something I am planning to test over the next couple of weeks but I note that I am limited to the ati driver. I had indicated an interest in implementing the DCT and motion estimation on the shader units to provide hardware acceleration of MPEG video some time back. I have been far too busy and haven't even done any background work whatsoever to learn about the shader units. I presume this is still up in the air and that there is no serious effort yet to implement such features, right? GPU throttling?

I wonder how ATI GPUs are throttled, and what the default throttling state is. I'm using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5830 card, which is not officially supported by the radeon or the radeonhd drivers, neither the official ATI binary driver. thus, I'm using the vesa driver to drive this card. the laptop I'm using this card in idles at around 56-59 C, with all CPU cores at their minimum (checked a number of ways, they really are). Hallo, last week, I installed Fedora 12 with radeonhd on my Fujitsu Siemens Amilo XI 2550. There are some graphic problems. Up to know, I used Catalyst (fglrx) under Fedora 9/10. Symptoms: 1. Then, I opened gwenview and viewed some jpg's. After closing gwenview, the dolphin window was quite strange (dolphin-1b). I set up gimp to make a screenshot in 10 seconds. Then, I opened gwenview and displayed the flower in full size. When the 10 seconds were over, the screenshot was taken (gwenview-1a, I did not switch the screen). I switched to the gimp screen, and set up gimp to make another screenshot in 10 seconds. Then, I switched back to the gwenview screen and gwenview-1b was taken. The desert is a part of the background image. A similiar effect is shown in kmail-1a and kmail1b. This problem is reproducable, in particular when I display large images in gwenview in full size. 2. I use kslideshow when I lock the screen. kslideshow uses various effects when switching from one image to another. Sometimes, kslideshow changes randomly pixels when switching from one image to the next. This effect is extremely CPU-consuming. 3. Displaying webpages with flash-aninmations is very CPU-consuming (in comparison to flgrx under Fedora 9/10). Sometimes /usr/bin/X takes 30% CPU, but these 30% remain even when I close the browser. 4. When I turn desktop-effects on, everything is very slow. It becomes even slower when I use the Composition method OpenGL. Hallo Herr Schaefer, bei der Installation von openSuSE 11.2 mit der Radeon HD 4870 versagte der X-Server, d.h. er blieb im Textmodus. Mit 'sax2 -r' startete auch kein X-Server. Aehnliches gilt fuer den nv-treiber. Um den 1600-er Modus zu aktivieren, musste ich ebenfalls den Original nvidia-treiber holen, fuer den es ja schon das komfortable yast-Repository zum einbinden der Nvidia-Quellen gibt. Ich vermisse auch als aelterer DDR-Burger die Moglichkeit, in deutscher Sprache http://de.opensuse.org/Fehler_berichten weil dort steht: Fehlerberichte müssen in englischer Sprache verfasst werden ..
