[opensuse-project] Special Repos?
Will there be special update repositories for the final 1-CD-KDE\GNOME-openSUSE 10.3 version? The packages become splitted at the moment, as it was announced. Later this implicates splitted update packages too. Are there already ideas, how to handle this problem? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Why would one want or require separated update repositories!? Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

I understand that the package splitting was a process done because... has a lot of advantages. One of these was the possibility of creating the 1CD versions, but that doesn't means that the splitted packages will be used only on these CDs, they will be used everywhere (DVDs, repositories...). --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Hi mesmero, I think you misunderstood some things. When we talk about package splits, we mean creating a python-devel and a python package out of the upstream provided python.tar.gz. And we did that in a continued pace, so we can only put the python package on the CD and the python-devel package only on the DVD. The online update always only considered those packages you have installed. So if you have only python installed and not python-devel (and it doesn't matter if you installed that from DVD or from CD), the online update will only download python - but from a repository that contains both packages. Does that answer your question? Exactly, they are used everywhere. So, we only need one ftp repository... Ok, now i understand, what was meant by splitting packages. Splitted sounded, like you hacked the normal packages a lot to fit on the CD. I am not so deep in that matter. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org
