[opensuse-project] [GSOC 2013] OSEM report 1
OSEM (Open Source Event Manager) Written in Ruby on Rails, OSEM offers overall organizing options for an event/conference. A quick overview of OSEM: -------------------------------------- In order to use OSEM one has to create an account (and become a user). Then information on the profile page can be added. A user can register to attend an event/conference, submit a proposal for a conference An admin can create new conferences and manage their options, see all people registered to attend a conference, see all proposals submitted and accept/reject them, create a schedule. -------------------------------------- Some of the features that I had planned for the first week were already implemented by the time that I was accepted, so I moved on down the initial list, as well as other issues that come up as I go. First week overview: - Onsite Registrations from admin panel - User page for volunteering to the conference - Minor changes in proposal submission - Some configs Pull requests: https://github.com/openSUSE/osem/pulls Next week’s plans: - Show stats in Events admin page - More stats in Registrations admin page, include dietary choices - Integrate volunteering in registration - Admin page to see all volunteers -------------------------------------- New features added this week: For users -> The ability to volunteer for a conference from a volunteer-form. For admins -> The ability to create new registrations In more details: Admins can now have an extra column in ‘Registrations’ page where they can check if a registered person actually attended the event. This is very helpful when organizers want to know how many people, from those registered, actually attended the event. Seeing the Registrations list, an admin can simply click on ‘false” in the attended column, to make it true, as in registered person attended. Admins can now create a registration (and a new person) in OSEM by using the new onsite registration form in admin panel (from Registrations page). This enables people at registration desk to quickly register people that arrive without having registered in advance. Again this helps organizers keep track of total attendees and it’s a fast and efficient way to get the name and email of the attendee. Overall stats are given on top of the page (Total No of people registered, Total No of people registered onsite, Total No of people attended, Total No of partners (this aims to the non-technical partners that accompany conference attendees so that org team could provision some side activities for them). People except for registering to the conference, can also volunteer through OSEM. Registration is however prerequisite in order to proceed with the volunteer form. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
