Andreas, I was hoping the "old-school" vote last time would allow for a vote this time of when to rollover: a) 12.0, 12.1, 13.0, 13.1, etc. b) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 14.0 etc. c) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, 14.0 etc. c) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, 13.4, 14.0 etc. Ignoring Evergreen, my vote is a) because 12.0 would go out of support shortly after 13.0 would come out. So for a server etc. it might make sense to only use the .0 releases. If Evergreen is "real" and takes support from 18 months to 36 months, then I would like to reset after .3 for the same reason. ie. all .0 releases could be designated a Evergreen release and everyone would know it. Andreas,
I was hoping the "old-school" vote last time would allow for a vote this time of when to rollover:
That wasn't planned and if you made the suggestion, I seem to have overlooked it, sorry.
a) 12.0, 12.1, 13.0, 13.1, etc. b) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 14.0 etc. c) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, 14.0 etc. c) 12.0, 12.1, 12.2, 12.3, 12.4, 13.0, 13.1, 13.2, 13.3, 13.4, 14.0 etc.
Ignoring Evergreen, my vote is a) because 12.0 would go out of support shortly after 13.0 would come out. So for a server etc. it might make sense to only use the .0 releases.

My dear colleague Dr. MLS just came around with a similiar question. He wanted to suggest to not have a .0 release: Since we have three releases, it would then be clear the that November release is always the .1 release, the July release the .2 and the March release the .3. If there are more people that think the current definition is too strict, we could do a third election if and only if the "old school" is the winner. If there are more people that think the current definition is too strict, we could do a third election if and only if the "old school" is the winner. We could of course also simply do it instead of having a vote on how the vote should be structured.

If the voting comes around as "old school", I think we will do exactly that. So the next release will be 12.1 then. Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

The suggestion to use .0 to designate 'Evergreen' (or equivalent) releases is an excellent one IMHO. -- IRC: helen_au helen.south@opensuse.org helensouth.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

We currently have problems with our login infrastructure on some systems, see the recent announcement. Isn't the poll and the interpretation of the results flawed? In your system the party that has more unpopular candidates wins as the votes accumulate on the few acceptable ones. You can't compare the results for both parties if you allow people to vote for both at the same time. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.de/ SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-project+help@opensuse.org

Everyone could vote for everything - the options were only grouped. The winners were picked purely by their numbers, not by the group they are in. I think the second poll is a bit, hmm, tricky. In my mind there is primarily a question of "stay" or "change", where there are two change" options which may cancel out each other in favor of "stay". Me, for example, I'd happily take B or C, as long as it's not A, and the scheme does not allow for that. I think the old model, and just counting to 3 simply does not make _any_ sense. It pretends something with is not there (a major/ minor release series) and losing the SLE connection even becomes more meaningless than it is today.
