[opensuse-project] WARNING: Some (?) Broken openSUSE.org user mailadresses
I just got a second notification that somehow the opensuse.org mail aliases for members are broken. We did a large sync yesterday so that all new members receive their adresses and it seems that something went wrong there. If you have problems, please tell me so that I know who has problems - and we're trying to figure out what went wrong and will fix it, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Director Platform / openSUSE, aj@suse.de SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

I have problems sending, not receiving. I suppose this is not the proper list to handle this, but I don't know which one. I use (I have to) the gmail smtp relay to send email as @opensuse.org; the problem is that emails sent to the list get the "from" changed to my gmail address instead, and thus can be rejected. This does not happen if I send direct, not to the list. I do not know if this is a list server problem at opensuse, a gmail problem, a postfix problem on my side (I upgraded this machine to 11.0 recently), a combination of all, nor what list or what person should we use to ask questions like this. As a remailer, the opensuse address is not very reliable for me; any remailer is unreliable (no smtp). And of course, I will not send this email as @opensuse. I can't. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. I sent a ail to opensuse+owner, is that the good ail? I don't find it in the headers I now receive the opensuse list mails on jdd@opensuse.org (old alias, not recent one) when I was subscribed on jdd@dodin.org headers of a mail:

If you send with your @opensuse.org address and the gmail changes the envelope-from to your gmail address the list _cant_ know that you intended to send from @opensuse.org. How should it? It has no knowledge of what you intend or whatevery gmail rewrites. Henne -- Henne Vogelsang, openSUSE. It has only happened once, and without me changing anything, is back to
work again.
The email goes out with both envelepe "from" and normal "from" set to
AKA@o.o, as it should. The configuration is this:
/etc/postfix/sender_relayhost:
AKA@opensuse.org [smtp.gmail.com]
/etc/postfix/sasl_passwd:
AKA@opensuse.org NOAKA@gmail.com:PASSWORD
When postfix talks to gmail, it gives my gmail login and password, and
gmail accepts it:

We figured out the problem now: The initial import of email addresses into users.openSUSE.org contained a number of errors. In the past we did incremental updates but last friday I did a full sync from users.o.o to our mail system and thus the errorneous emails were setup. I was responsible for doing the full sync - to give all those added the last months finally their email addresses - and did not know about the errors of the initial import. I apologize for the mess that was created by my sync due to these erroneous emails. Darix has double checked the email addresses and fixed all that have been reported (thanks a lot!). If your email address is still broken, please file a bugreport against "openSUSE.org" in bugzilla.novell.com with the changes that should be done.
