[opensuse-project] [gsoc] Weekly status report - MATE gstreamer project
Hi everyone, this is an exciting time for me being an accepted GSoC student! My project aims to modify the MATE desktop in order to replace the use of a deprecated GStreamer 0.10 library. The project will probably not have a great impact on the users of MATE desktop, but it will make MATE not depend on the deprecated functionality which is an important step forward for MATE developers and maintainers. As for my progress update: 1) I have introduced myself to Stefano Karapetsas and Martin Wimpress, who are my mentors for this project and I have found my way to the development IRC channel where I will discuss the development and receive guidance. 2) I have been working on preparing my work environment in order to be able to compile and run development versions of MATE. 3) I have began investigating gobject and several existing gobject based libraries as for my project I will be building a gobject-based library. During the next week I intend to continue my gobject research and I'd like to start getting more familiar with the gstreamer and libpulse libraries I will also be using.
