Dear Projects!
We are now officially starting the Call for Projects! If you want to
apply for a free project booth, please do so in our vCC at
https://vcc.linuxtag.org until March 22nd.
We are also looking for hands-on workshops. Topics I could immediately
think of are
- crypto workshop
- setting up Jenkins and building a small (Android) app from a git
repository continuously, then running it automatically
- writing a small collection of (shell) scripts that make your (admin)
life easier
- comparisons of similar tools like two backup solutions - workshop
could also be done by two projects together
- which window managers are there and which one is best for me
You probably have many more ideas!
Please enter them in our vCC as a talk proposal (add a comment that it
shall be a project workshop and an estimate of how much time is needed)
- preferably until March 5th, since we will be working on our conference
program schedule next weekend.
As you all probably know, Messe Berlin terminated our contract and we
could not agree on terms that were acceptable for both sides, so the
contract was not renewed.
We had to find a new partner and think we found a great one in droidcon!
So LinuxTag will take place together
with droidcon at Station Berlin from May 8 - 10, 2013. droidcon and
LinuxTag will share the location - lecture and exhibition halls - and
will align on lots of things. But we are still separate entities. While
this new situation gives us much more freedom, we (LinuxTag e.V.) now
have to carry the complete financial risk for LinuxTag.
Our main goal has not changed - it is still to be the place "where .com
meets .org" and to promote free software. The conference during the
daytime is more aimed at the professional Linux user, while the new
evening slots allow us to also have some workshops for "newbies" - if
you submit appropriate workshop proposals in our vCC that is.
Wait a minute - droidcon? evening slots? Station Berlin?
Yes, lots of things are new this year and we are still working on all
the details.
I have compiled some infos in our public wiki:
Call for Projects: https://wiki.linuxtag.org/w/fp:Call_for_Projects
Changes in 2014: https://wiki.linuxtag.org/w/fp:ChangesIn2014
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We will send out more
infos as we get closer to the event.
Let's make LinuxTag 2014 an awesome event!
We rely on your help and your exciting booth and workshop proposals - so
don't forget to visit

Cheers,
Elke
