[opensuse-project] Renewing the call for location for oSC15
Hi All, As many may know, our search for a location for oSC15 has not been successful so far. Our next gathering, oSC14 in Dubrovnik is approaching fast and it would be great to remove the uncertainty surrounding the openSUSE Conference in 2015. The openSUSE board invites you to consider organizing and hosting the openSUSE conference in 2015. The openSUSE Conference (oSC) is the primary yearly gathering of Geekos from around the world. The conference venue requirements can be found on the openSUSE wiki (https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Conference_venue_requirements .) This is your chance to show the world of Geekos the hospitality and culture of your country. One member of the organizing team will be invited to attend oSC14 at the end of April, 2014 in Dubrovnik and present the location of oSC15. We are looking for a location that can be reached by plane, train, and bus (mainland Europe or the UK.) Please submit your proposals to either opensuse-project@opensuse.org or board@opensuse.org. We are happy to consider proposals from teams that would like to organize the event but are currently not actively involved with the openSUSE community. oSC15 should take place in the March-May time frame in 2015, roughly 1 year after oSC14. Your proposal should include a description of the location (city/town and venue) and provide information about your organization team and any experience you may have had organizing other events. Items to consider are cost of lodging around the venue, access to public transportation to and from the airport/train station and hotels to venue, and proximity to a venue for a party. Thanks you for considering to host oSC15, we are looking forward to receiving your proposal. Hello, I can propose the town of Toulouse, France. That said, I do not have yet a complete project, so it may be a little too late for 2015 and best for 2016, but if it's necessary, I may manage 2015. In fact I can easily meet the requirements given on the wiki, but I can't find the page where the 2013 budget was published. I'm not sure also of the number of people we need to accomodate (I guess from 500 to 1000?) The Venue can be a congress place "Diagora" (http://www.diagora-congres.com/). The local small town organisation, "SICOVAL" (http://www.sicoval.fr/) is ready to help, and also an engeenering school (I miss the name right now) can make his students to work on the project. I can meet the people interested pretty soon if necessary your sincerely jdd -- http://www.dodin.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Jean-Daniel, make all the necessary appointment. Number of guest is more ~300 to 400 but if lot of local people come this could be increased. About the budget, we (the board) will try to do our best to offer a guidance document to help interested team. With a bit of chance, and a good deal of work this should be done around the 10th Feb. There's no fixed price (less is always better) depending on the place, also funding is not an exact science especially if the local team think about local sponsors. Nothing forbid to be create :-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org
