[opensuse-project] Login to news.o.o not working properly
It seems that this site does the normal/expected redirect to Attachmate's authentication system, but then it redirects after success to a Wordpress login. Can someone look into what's going on there? Everybody has problems. Please try from outside of the corporate network. After login at attachmate, I get redirected to: https://news.opensuse.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.opensuse.org%2Fwp-admin%2Fprofile.php&reauth=1 with a (W) logo that is a link to Wordpress (https://wordpress.org/), and a new login prompt. See photo from somebody else: http://paste.opensuse.org/78558898 The page source contains: <body class="login login-action-login wp-core-ui locale-en-us"> So it is apparently wanting people to login at "wordpress", whatever that is. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. The network has noting to do with it. Everyone goes over access manager. I have reported the problem to admin@opensuse.org... I get: https://news.opensuse.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fnews.opensuse.org%2Fwp-admin%2Fprofile.php&reauth=1 The page isn't redirecting properly Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete. This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I get:
The page isn't redirecting properly
I then verify that the login succeeded, because I can enter bugzilla or forum pages, which show me ad logged-in - but not the news page, it keeps asking me to login. And if I try (again), I get the redirection error without a prompt for login data. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. The user who reported this in the forums wants to post a reply to a post - is a login not needed for that? Maybe we should have that explained somewhere - otherwise, users who might otherwise comment aren't thinking that they can. No, commenting is open. Why does he think so?

It couldn't be more clear from the interface. Dunno how to explain this better... Ok... At the end of the comments section I see a section labeled "Leave a Reply", which asks for my name, email, and website. I am already logged in at opensuste forums and bugzilla, that is, the joint attachmate, previously novell, authentication system. Why does the news.opensuse.org site wants that email data, which it already knows? It makes no sense. I'm bewildered. I see a reply from you, with your photo. Other people from openSUSE can not do that. To me, the system at news.o,o is not working, since our login data is not accepted, despite we are requested for our login at the top of the page. And no, I do not want to post or reply anything there. I learnt of the issue on the same place where Jim Henderson did, we are both talking on behalf of that user, but on different time zones. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. Sure it makes sense. It, being the software, only knows what the developers tell it. Wordpress only uses Acceess Manager for authentification to the admin interface. Somebody would have to integrate wordpress further...

Everybody can comment on our wordpress instance, regardless of an openSUSE account. If you provide an email address that has a picture set at gravatar.com it gets used. Henne p.s. I'm moving this to opensuse-web, no need to bother the project folks further... -- Henne Vogelsang http://www.opensuse.org Everybody has a plan, until they get hit. - Mike Tyson -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-project+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, email: opensuse-project+owner@opensuse.org

No idea, I was just passing the question along. But I'll let him know login isn't needed to comment.

I don't see it anywhere on news.o.o itself - if I click "sign up", nothing seems to happen, and if I click "login", I get to the NAM login page.
