let me tell you a story about etiquette... One day in the university I opened the door and invited the girl who was behind me to go first... She looked very strange at me and said: in modern times etiquette changed and women and man are equal... you were first you should go first... Then I learnt my lesson... never try to impose your etiquette on others...
The only thing you learnt is that she imposed HER ignorant and misguided code of etiquette on YOU! You should have simply told her that the code of etiquette which YOU were applying was something which was in place for hundreds of years and that you INSIST that she walk through first according to YOUR code of manners. You could have also asked her if she was wearing a bra and if she was to take it off and burn it in front of you. (Always carry a box of matches or a cigarette lighter for such occasions, BTW.)
