In the end, the 40% policy will get enforced when the votes are tallied. It would be great if we could keep the 40% policy out of voter's minds when they cast the ballot, meaning the 40% clause should not be a factor when casting the vote.

That's a very good conclusion, Robert. Forget the 40% rule. But, voters may wish to consider a candidate's employment as part of the overall picture of what that candidate brings to the table. Therefore, to specifically answer Richard's question, if you feel that your work background is relevant to your platform, then do include it in your platform.
