But we don't know if that'll happen or not.
It is unlikely that fragmentation will happen :) People with certain skills and needs exist independent of what we provide. Not providing some flavor of openSUSE that fits skills and needs means they will not become users. http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2012-09/msg00197.html Fears are bad advisers. Instead of fearing user base split, one should look how to use user interest in Tumbleweed (TW). TW has fairly new software, where user feedback can help to decide what software versions to include in the next release. The only precondition is that there is a channel(s) where users can publish that feedback. People looking for Respin type of media, will not use Factory, nor prerelease. Without Respin they will use last stable release, as they do now, with minimal benefits for the next release, but with drawback that they will be hit by bugs that are already solved with updates.
Maybe a poll on this to folks on - factory and our testing groups would be at least a bit helpful, I'll set something up.
