It's good to have that, but if ($DEITY forbid) Richard gets hit by a bus, there does need to be some succession planning and continuity planning to ensure that tribal knowledge isn't lost.
Not to mention that memory is an imperfect way to keep records. Eyewitness reports are considered very unreliable in most instances. :) That's not a question of trust, BTW, that's just another part of "human nature". :)
