I think you hit the nail on the head. Well expressed. That's basically the point of this thread, to see if openSUSE devs could maybe take a look at some of these issues with fresh eyes. I was basically trying to gauge interest from the current group of devs in actually changing/improving the standard openSUSE defaults, and if there is interest I'd be glad to file detailed bug reports to get the ball rolling.
