Well, I may have to stand to be corrected. Novell did get swallowed up - and openSUSE was cut loose.
What do Novell and openSUSE have to do with it? Legally, SUSE/Novell/any company in europe can not have anything to do with Packman. Only universities are allowed to deal with these patent-encumbered stuff.
