Hi,
I spent a good part of this week reading documentations of BitBucket REST APIs, in order to extend git-review to work with BitBucket.
It occurred to me that the BitBucket community is much smaller and less active than Github’s. I’ve spotted quite a few errors in their API specification after trying everything out in the console; and there isn’t any existing gem that is being actively maintained and supports functionality such as get/send pull requests. Hence, a lot of low level stuff needs to be handled inside git-review itself.
I managed to get pull requests retrieval working, and converted the json response into git-review’s internal representation of the pull request object. Next week, I will work on modifying the current Github pull request manipulation methods (such as displaying) so that they are compatible with BitBucket’s pull requests as well.
Cheers,
Xu

Hi there,
All is on track, that's all I can say.
Well,..my networking patch did not pan out mostly because it is
horribly broken and I did not spend time on it this week.
Instead,..I was reading the qemu QMP commands implementation. Qemu
provides a method of communicating with a running qemu domain by
applications. This is done through a JSON like implementation for
sending commands.
At the moment alot of discussion is going on the xen-devel mailing
list on how the snapshot API could be implemented in libxl.Due to the
nature of the project, this might take some time but as this goes on I
get to dig more dipper and dipper into libvirt and the xen code base
but I dont mind because the more conversant I am with the codebase the
more easily I will write the code when the time comes.Infact, project
will entail a lot of discussion because it involves two gigantic
projects.I could strain very much and get the code written but getting
it into xen.git and libvirt master is another this so I ditch the
latter :)
Cheers,
David.

Hi,
For my GSoC project, I will be working on caja, the file manager for the
MATE desktop. My primary goal is to extend its extensions functionality
to allow runtime (de-)activation of individual plugins, and to create an
extension management system to allow more complex extensions.
As for my status, I don't have much to report yet. I familiarised myself
somewhat with the source code, but overall the last courses of my degree
and its subsequent exams have kept me pretty busy. I've talked to one of
my mentors, and he agreed with my proposal to get started next Wednesday
on the 7th. My apologies for this lackluster update, and I'll do my best
to make the next one more exciting :)
With kind regards,
Alexander

Hello everyone,
This is my second weekly report in the community bonding period. I
have started active work on the project from today, having planned out
the sections of code to explore first, and some new ruby gems to be
well versed with.I also updated my Github fork and synced it with the
main repo. I am constantly corresponding with my mentor on these
points and gearing up to start the coding period.
Looking forward to an amazing summer !
Thank You

hi .
so after week 2 , i'm finally able to move around and play with the
atril source code, however i have yet to get a hold on how i would
integrate my webview with the existing UI.I feel i will be in a string
position by the 19th and will be able to keep all my deadlines in
accordance with the timeline i proposed. Also my exams will be
officially over next week ,and i can then dedicate all my time and
energy to the project .
since the coding period will be starting soon,i have started working
with zlib and webkitGTK+ and i am working on some template code, bulding
on which i will proceed with the project .Also , i'm looking for other
issues that i might be able to work upon to get a better feel of the
codebase .
as earlier, this post along with all others ( and bonus content ) will be
available on my blog rootavish(dot)github(dot)io ,so that in the end the
complete set is archived for all to see .
regards,

Hello everyone!
So, the first report will be a bit content-less, as there is not much to
report. (It's due to uni.) But hey, it's a start!
This is / will be my first GSoC. And I'm really happy that I managed to
get into the openSUSE team.
My project goes by the name "Cool Live Flash". Well, the base idea is
from my mentor, I will "just" help to make this idea take a form.
And now for the progress.
Since the beginning, I've been spamming Michal with all sorts of
questions, since I had no idea how this all works.
He also had a 'homework' for candidates. It was a great warmup, and by
solving it, I was able to take a peek at how openSUSE is built.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a Linux enthuasist - to a healthy degree - and I
did/do use openSUSE, but I never dissected it's liveCD before.
It was fun, and thought me a couple of things.
Since then, he gave me a couple of tasks to start with, like dissecting
other live systems, check out filesystems, and such.
Again, the list and the tasks are not forgotten, I really take GSoC
seriously. But you have to prioritize. You are forced to.
So that list is not done yet (not all of it), but not for long!
Once I get busy, I will post about my progress on my blog. (Will include
the link in my next report for posts.)
See you next week!
Regards,
Peter

I started contributing to https://github.com/openSUSE/osem right
before the gsoc results were announced so that I could get
familiarized with the codebase.I pushed one commit this week which
tells developers to generate secret for devise so that the error for
"fixnum to string" is resolved.
I am looking forward to further developments right after my
examinations end on 5th May.
Got introduced to my mentor James Mason and Cornelius and the openSUSE
community over emails. Also was asked to setup the trello board to keep
track of developments by James.

Hello,
I am Peter. I'm working on the project Load Balancer as a Service for Zorp.
I've started to know Zorp more, reading the manuals, and I'm also
working on creating the Zorp GPL RPM packages.
I also keep continuous contact with my mentors.
Unfortunately I'm doing my MA thesis now, so until 15th May, I don't
have really much time, but I really want to finish the packaging as soon
as possible.
Regards,
Peter

Hi everyone,
My name is Oguz and I will be working on integrating snapper with
openSUSE desktop tools with Ismail as my mentor.
Our first goal was to build a library that communicates with snapper
over dbus (to replace libsnapper which is now deprecated), I already
implemented a prototype with limited functionality during the proposal
phase. Last week I added the functions that were left out back then
and signal handling support.
I have also started working on the second goal, which is building the
GUI client for snapper. I am using Qt Designer and pyuic for the
interface. Currently, snapper-gui looks exactly like yast_snapper but
it will change in the coming weeks as we add some features that
yast_snapper lacks.
Next week I will add support for config actions and snapshot listing
to snapper-gui.
Cheers,
Oguz

Hi everyone,
this is an exciting time for me being an accepted GSoC student!
My project aims to modify the MATE desktop in order to replace the use
of a deprecated GStreamer 0.10 library. The project will probably not
have a great impact on the users of MATE desktop, but it will make MATE
not depend on the deprecated functionality which is an important step
forward for MATE developers and maintainers.
As for my progress update:
1) I have introduced myself to Stefano Karapetsas and Martin Wimpress,
who are my mentors for this project and I have found my way to the
development IRC channel where I will discuss the development and receive
guidance.
2) I have been working on preparing my work environment in order to be
able to compile and run development versions of MATE.
3) I have began investigating gobject and several existing gobject based
libraries as for my project I will be building a gobject-based library.
During the next week I intend to continue my gobject research and I'd
like to start getting more familiar with the gstreamer and libpulse
libraries I will also be using.
Thank you,
Michal Ratajsky
