Hello everyone,
Last week, as planned in my proposal, I worked on designing the
database to implement the customisation feature of states and events
of the state_machines(requests and reimbursements). I decided to
implement 2 models namely States and Transition_events which is
accessible exclusively by super-admins. I worked with my mentor to
cover all possible cases in the design, and also analyzed the current
implementation in the app to set up the required ActiveRelations.
Next week I plan to implement the above design and also test the same.
Thank You

I recently pushed a commit to kick start my GSoC project. The commit
consisted of a view displaying just the title of the conference. This
is the result of clicking the event on the home page.
I had also setup the trello board where James assigned tasks to me such as
1) Read the Ruby on Rails Guidelines for selected topics.
2) Asked me to see 20 splash pages and figure out the components to
create a list for the OSEM splash page.
Currently, I am done with the listing of the components and waiting
for the review.I am continuing with the guides.
Looking forward to a great summers ahead.
Happy Hacking!

Hi,
this is my fourth weekly status report for my GSoc project.
Last week I started preparing a library that will be used in MATE to
handle volume controls and related functionality. This week I finally
got to writing actual code. I have implemented some essential APIs and
also an initial PulseAudio support. Building is fully functional and the
library supports dynamic loading of backend modules. Right now the
library is able to connect to a PulseAudio server and query a list of
sound devices.
Next week I plan to solve several problems in the library that I'm aware
of and continue adding more features. I hope to have the library fully
prepared within 2-3 weeks.
Thank you,
Michal

Hi all,
This week, I needed to learn more about Music App to make the playlist
functionalities working. The previous week, I was not thinking that
this would be that hard, but now I understood that there are many
things to learn even to make basic functionality work. For everything
that I completed this week, I needed to read JSON basics, Restangular
API documents and learn some OC API functions.
As a short update to this week:
- We now have a new template to show when a *hard-coded* playlist
selected from the list
- A new api function is written to get the raw song data
- Committed the changes into repo. Can be followed from here:
https://github.com/owncloud/music/pull/233
Next week:
- When a list is selected, all user songs that belong to this list
should be displayed in the template that we have.
- And maybe getting hardcoded user playlist from database?
See you next week :)

Hi all,
This week, I continued creating a working OpenStack system. Keystone,
Glance and Nova are installed up, and works fine, also Neutron is almost
ready to use.
Because some steps are still needed to make it work, I did not start
coding phase yet, but I can say I've became quite familiar with the load
balancer related source code of Zorp.
Next week I plan to start the implementation of missing strategies.
Regards,
Peter

Hi guys,
The only thing I have to say is that I will not be working on xen
libxl at least for now and will instead be focusing on libvirt as I
wait for Bamvor Jian Zhang to submit his next version of the libxl
snapshot patch .
We have agreed on the API to be exposed and I will be moving on with
the libvirt work.
Regards,
David

Hi,
Here’s a short update about this week’s progress.
I’ve been focusing on developing Bucketkit, a BitBucket REST API client written in Ruby. It is heavily inspired by Octokit.rb, and it was my intention to make the internals and APIs similar to Octokit’s. The (bare minimum) foundation, including the handle of http requests, response, and authorizations, has been completed. On top of that, I’ve implemented the retrieval of pull request, and it worked fine.
I’ve open-sourced the repo here https://github.com/xystushi/bucketkit. There isn’t much in the codebase yet, but I’m adding more stuff to it whenever the needs arise from the development of Git-Review.
Cheers,
Xystushi

Hi,
Xen Project User Summit takes place in New York City in September, for
details see [1]. I was approached to give a talk about openSUSE and
Xen, but unfortunately have a conflict and will not be able to be in
New York at that time.
If anyone is close by and has interest in representing openSUSE and
talking about Xen please submit a talk. The CfP is open until May 31st.
Thanks,
Robert

Yes I attended OSC12-13-14
In some ways yes [Volunteering] . I tend to upload live session
updates, photos via various feeds like Twitter [ with hash-tags to
include major open source communities/projects/cities in my
country],openSUSE Facebook page & Google Plus.
Yes I asked for TSP
>3. Will you go to osc15 ?
=> when no, why
=> when perhaps : what makes your decision ?
99.99% Yes! [ I don't mean "SLA" way :-D . But yes I mean "Definitely". ]
>4. Have you any ideas on how to increase ppl at OSC ?
>(hoe to be VISIBLE, how to be more attractive .. héhé)
Yes certainly. i) May be we can focus on relatively dense city which
has many open source communities, technical Universities & a city where
SUSE has office. ii) Such a location in Europe which is easy to reach
to every1 by means of various parameters like time, money &
feasibility.
>5. What kinda talks would interest you (did interest you), yes YOU ?
(examples)
i)osc12 really had tremendous mixture of various talks which was delightful.
ii)osc13 had more technical talks as per my observation which were
simply amazing. In parallel, few brief sessions about SUSE & openSUSE
were really interesting. Few talks from osc13 were very relevant to my
domain i.e. Telecom. It was an good learning curve to me to gain
knowledge from those sessions.
iii)osc14 again had many fascinating sessions from various
domains/projects/communities. Special thanks to Mr.Untz for talk about
"openstack + openSUSE". I was looking forward for "openstack +
opensuse" talk at osc14. It is good to know the progress of such
integrations/developments to promote it back in local community &
afterwards at work place.
iv) at osc15, looking forward to attend technical talks & also
business talks like for example "ARM based data centre" by Andrew then
"SUSE Linux Enterprise & openSUSE" talk by Jan Weber in osc14. I
definitely missed speakers from osc12 & osc13. Hoping to see them at
osc15 with interesting technical sessions like before :-)
>6. Have you any idea of WHO could be a great keynote speaker for next
>year (and it would be better for openSUSE TSP when living in Europe )
Keynote by 1 of the board member followed by Town hall is a good
option like we had in osc14.
>7. Would you have time to contribuate more ?
Yes I would have time to contribute more.
>8. Last & option : for you, what is the best way to increase openSUSE
contributors ?
i) More presence in Central Asia & Middle East.
ii) I came across interesting question by 1 of my friend who was
trying to sign up at forums.opensuse.org & he found that his country
name is not there in the list i.e. Iran.
>9. free and open others ideas ?
Just an idea from marketing point of view :-
i) Free openSUSE media distribution in India & from India. [upon
every new release] We can keep limit due to the density of region. I
am pretty sure there are many out here in India who don't get latest
release in short period of time [due to bandwidth issue] which results
in lose/lag to them. Subsequently, they can not report/submit bugs or
start building something on top of new release. [ That's a lose to our
community in some ways. :-) ]. My analysis says if a new Linux user in
India has FREE Linux media in his hand, he quickly adopts that road
map. Classic example is Canonical Ltd.
Thanks & Regards,
Amey Abhyankar. [India]
