Hello,
I find the semantic parser GSoC project[1] proposal to be interesting.
I have been using clang_complete[2] for a couple of months now and the
proposed semantic variable search will be a good addition to it.
Is the expected work is an extension to the existing clang_complete?
Is the scope of the project is to allow semantic variable search only?
As I am new to clang or parser development, I am not aware yet of the
complexity and the works related to this project.
A little bit about me:
I have 3 years working experience with C/C++ and I am currently
studying master's degree at National University of Singapore.
I have some knowledge (but not deep) on parsers, clang, and autotools.
I have also contributed a tiny typo patch to clang's documentation[3],
and small patches to other projects like TortoiseHg, HgSubversion, and
Redmine.
Thank you,
Arief

Splash Screens Contest
Hello artists and enthusiasts. We have been hard at working with our
artwork for 12.2 and now it is the time to style the distribution a
little more. Since the most of artwork that we have now is a
derivative of the official wallpaper created by Richard Brown and
Marcus Moeller there is a big portion of our styling done for the
distribution. However, there are a few other elements that need your
creative collaboration. Splash screens for a few programs that we use
can be greatly enhanced by your artistic inspiration.
Libre Office
GIMP
Scribus
Amarok
Calligra
Krita
Blender
The idea of this contest is that we can integrate the new chosen
wallpaper into these splash screens for the release of 12.2.
Guidelines
1. Use the default wallpaper as part of the image.
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1363018/test3.jpg
2. Refer to the official artwork guidelines in how to use logos for
these different applications.
3. Restrict your creation to the sizes specified.
4. Provide the sources of your work if chosen.
5. Present/submit your artwork to http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Splashscreen
Sizes (please use a standard resolution of 75 dpi)

Only work the area at the bottom. Leave top as is.
Please click “Upload” to the left of the wiki page and then select
your files. As you finish the upload, please copy the
“File:image-title.png” since this is the name of the file to be
entered as you showcase your pictures in the wiki.

All,
I've got a few fileservers running 11.4 and hope to keep them at 11.4
via the evergreen project.
Evergreen has basically decided to update to the 3.0 kernel in order
to leverage the fact that it is a long term support kernel. (At least
2 years from Jan 2012).
A 11.4 version of the 3.0 kernel is available now:
see http://lists.rosenauer.org/pipermail/evergreen/2012-March/000692.html
I propose that this kernel get tested by the opensuse community, then
released as part of the normal opensuse security update process. I'm
not saying to do this in the next week or two, but in the next month
or two would be fantastic.
I assume this would actually reduce the support load on the opensuse
kernel support guys., since they are in general already supporting 3.0
for SLE 11 SP2.
Thanks
Greg

Hi,
I'm sure you're all quite sick of hearing about Google Summer of Code by
now, so I promise this will be the last administrative announcement until
the students/projects are chosen :-)
In 3 days, students will be able to begin applying. If you have any ideas
that you haven't added, add them to the ideas list by the end of the
weekend!
And if you've already added yourself as a mentor to the ideas list, make
sure to create a profile with Google Melange[1] and request to be added to
the mentor team[2].
Thanks,
Matt

Hello everyone,
My name is Sanidhya Kashyap, a fourth year dual degree student, studying
at IIIT Hyderabad, India. I am working in the area of virtualization,
and infrastructure management. My research work focuses on live
migration of VMs (post vs pre copy live migration).
This time, a project named "Upstream Xen Support for Libvirt" on xen and
libvirt api has been proposed and it sounds interesting to me.
The main focus of mine is to contribute to the open source community,
what I have learned so far and this is a good option for me to start
with. This way, I am going to learn a lot about the libvirt
functionality as well the new Xen tool - Xenlight(XL), because I am
already familiar with the virtualization technologies, but it will give
me an in-depth knowledge.
I have already talked with the mentor Bamvor Jian Zhang and I getting
familiar with new Xen 4.1 and libvirt docs which my mentor asked me to
look at.
Thanks for the patience,
Sanidhya Kashyap

Hi all,
My name is Gaurav Sood, and I am a Third Year computer Science
Engineering student at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune, India.
I was introduced to openSUSE around a year ago and have been a user
since. It has been my dream of contributing towards openSUSE since
some time, and have been aiming to contribute via Summer of Code. I
took up minor projects, basically for learning and to enhance
knowledge of various technologies. I am familiar with PHP, C, C++,
Java and Python, as well as knowledge of databases using PostgreSQL
and MySQL. For the past 6 months or so, I have been preferring Python
as the preferred language for development, due to its simplicity and
ease of development. I have also tried my hand at development for
GNOME3, using Python.
I have read the ideas for GSoC 12' under openSUSE. I was browsing for
ideas relating to GNOME or Python, until I stumbled upon Popcorn. It
interested me mainly because it was coded in Python and that it
involved lots of learning in the process of development. Since then, I
have been in constant touch with the mentor, Ionuț Arțăriși, who has
been of help in my understanding of the project. I have also written
some exercise classes, for better understanding of the project.
Thanks all for your patient reading.

Hi,
I installed the xen kernel for the virtualization support. But the xen
kernel does not boots up. It hangs for sometime at the time of booting
and then the system restarts.
the configuration of menu.lst is as follows
title Xen -- openSUSE 12.1 - 3.1.9-1.4
root (hd0,5)
kernel /boot/xen.gz vga=mode-normal
module /boot/vmlinuz-3.1.9-1.4-xen
root=/dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD5000BEVT-00A0RT0_WD-WXD1AB0L7670-part6
ip=dhcp --
resume=/dev/disk/by-id/ata-WDC_WD5000BEVT-00A0RT0_WD-WXD1AB0L7670-part9
splash=silent quiet showopts vga=normal
module /boot/initrd-3.1.9-1.4-xen
I also tried using nomodeset option. But, that did not work.
So, any help would be apprecited.
Thanks,
Sanidhya
