Hello Geekos,
As you all know SUSE will participate in LinuxCon Europe 2012
[Barcelona,Spain] [1] with presentations and a booth as well [2].
Apart from SUSE , openSUSE Community will participate with a booth as
well. Furthermore SUSE is trowing money at the event , so it is not
gonna be hard to participate.
Currently we are searching for 3-4 Ambassadors that are willing to
participate at the conference. The Ambassadors that will participate
have to :
a) Assistant the booth during the entire conference (5-9 November)
b) Help with booth installation and organization
c) Inform people who will come to the booth for openSUSE Project.
d) Collaboration spirit and working in group
Furthermore for Ambassadors who live far from Spain and the need help
they can also ask about "Travel Support Program" [3].
Attention!
As there are no many days left (14 days left) before the conference
take place , people who are thinking seriously to participate
at the conference please mailme or respond at this thread as soon as
possible (ASAP).
Thanks a lot
Greetings,
Ilias R.(Zoumpis)

Hello everybody!
Our YODASP openSUSE Beta is finally live, and users can now register
to get free access to the lately released openSUSE 12.2 KDE
environment within the YODASP CLOUD workspace environment.
If you are interested register from the YODASP site [1] or from the
YODASP CLOUD login page [2] and get access to openSUSE 12.2 KDE
systems to try them out.
Please carefully read what you can do and what you can expect from the
openSUSE Beta from the "HOW DOES IT WORK" section on the openSUSE BETA
page [3].
There's a manual approval step in our process, so it may take some
time for you to get access to "openSUSE Beta". Please be patient and
allow up to a couple of days to process your request. We are working
on automating subscriptions.
When your request will be approved, you will get a URL link to access
your workspace environment.
An interesting part is that we have chosen to use the wonderful
ownCloud [4] workspace environment to get access to the openSUSE
systems through the NoMachine "NX Free Edition" technology [5].
For any additional information, visit our site or send a message to
beta.opensuse [AT] yodasp [DOT] com and, please, "Have a lot of fun!"

Hey,
We'll have a project meeting during the conference tomorrow (Monday
22nd) in the room Picard at 14:30. Everyone should join to ask all the
questions you can think of!
Of course, we'll take some notes and post a summary here on the list for
those who are not at the conference. And even if you're not attending,
you can send a question/topic for the meeting (either here on the list,
or directly to me).
Cheers,
Vincent

Hi,
I want to announce the availability of 4 live streams from the openSUSE
Conference currently taking place in Prague.
Just visit our "openSUSE-TV Channel" on Bambuser here:
http://bambuser.com/channel/opensusetv
and choose the room you like to see. Maybe combine this with the
official schedule here:
http://bootstrapping-awesome.org/schedule/
Let's have a lot of fun...!
With kind regards,
Lars

Hi,
I've released the latest version of the openSUSE Conferences Android app,
which now supports listing the schedule for the upcoming Prague conference
as well as other features. You can install or update from Google Play
here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.incoherent.suseconferencec…
Or you can download the APK directly from GitHub:
https://github.com/mbarringer/suseconferenceclient/downloads
New features:
* Downloadable maps
* Switch between conferences
* Language & track filters
* Schedule updates
* Search (pending a Google Play update, it should be there in a
few hours)
Bug reports or comments can either be sent directly to me, or using the
GitHub issue tracker.
Have fun in Prague,
Matt

Hi,
I've just added a small utility named cmdinitrd which allows
the user to run command on file in an initrd. A few examples
cmdinitrd /boot/initrd diff -u etc/adjtime /etc/adjtime
cmdinitrd /boot/initrd less etc/adjtime
this makes it more handy than always to explain a user reporting
a bug how to use zcat, pipes, cpio, and the command its self
on a long command line.

Hi,
I want to give you a general overview of the openSUSE Conference.
Basic tasks done
Most of topic that needed to be cover in advance are already closed:
* Keynote speakers flight tickets and accommodation
* Attendees accommodation
* Venues
* Social program venues
* Schedule except the "Business Friendly track" that will be closed today.
* Basic Merchandising
* Registration (please register if you haven done it)
* Pre-event press articles
* Place where to have lunch
* Many others...
SUSE involvement
SUSE office in Prague is very involved. You probably will have the chance to
meet many of them during the event, since they will be doing work on the field
as volunteers, together with community volunteers.
About 80 SUSE employees are coming from different locations, like Nuremberg,
US, Taiwan, Beijing.... They will also help the core team and volunteers on
the field.
Today the openSUSE Team arrives to Prague to organize, together with the
Prague office team, most of the work on the field, so when volunteers arrive they
know what to do, who is coordinating what, etc.
So a lot of Geeko followers coming..... It will be August for Beer places.
Prague and Nuremberg SUSE people together....Oh dear. :-)
Venue 1 to Venue 2 and other tasks
On Sunday afternoon we have to move from one venue to another, so we will need
many hands to help, not just in this process, but also during the weekend,
since part of the core team will be preparing Venue 2. Both venue are 200 m
apart. It is going to be challenging, but we will make it with your help.
We still need volunteers that help in things like social media, Chair(wo)men,
registration/help desk, network/video recording team, etc. If you are coming
and are willing to help for a few hours before or during the event, please add
yourself to the wiki page:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Conference_volunteers
Lunch
The cafeteria from campus will be open for us at lunch time (specially the
weekend) so you can go there and have different good options at a cheap price.
It is a semi-self service so it will be fast. You will only be able to pay
with Czech Korones. Make sure you have change available. Euros or credit cards
won't be allowed in the Cafeteria (from what I understand).
Registration - Welcome party
This Friday, as it has been published, we will have a welcome party in front
of venue 1. Please make sure that you come to the venue to register and
receive your badge before going to the party. We want to avoid long lines on
Saturday morning. Be aware that you will need your badge to enter the rooms
and going to the party on Saturday night.
Further information with all the details will be sent to attendees. Please
check the news section and the conference website for further information.
Other small details
* Check that you r computer charger is compatible with the standard in Czech
republic.
* Change some money before coming or in the airport. There are Cash Machines
but just in case....
* Check the expected weather before coming. It looks like we will have good
weather (well, what they call good weather at this time of the year in Central
Europe).
* If you are arriving on Friday, go directly to the venue for helping a little
or for registration (from 18 hours). Then join the Welcome Party.
Booth
We will have booths from different distributions there, since Linux Days brings
them. I personally would like to see us being the coolest and more interesting
booth of the event.
We need to go wild with crazy ideas. If you are creative and want to
help....this is your spot.
Community BoFs
All this effort is being done because we believe that an event is a key element
for every community. Besides the talks, the parties.... we have to make sure
that some work is done. This event should be the time for discussions, for
decisions, for agreements, for common analysis....
We have provided space for this. Joint the proposed BoFs or create new ones.
Disclaimer
Please remember that organizing an event is a stressful task and most of the
people involved in the organization are not "event managers" but engineers. So
my apologies in advance for the mistakes we will make.
If you have any urgency we have an emergency Phone number you can call at any
time (check you badge). Somebody will be there help you. For non critical
issues, please approach the staff at the help/registration desk and we will try
to deal/solve your problem or question.
Enjoy
Prague is an awesome city. I recommend you to visit it...if you have time,
because we have been working in creating a schedule interesting enough to make
hard for you to leave the Conference.
Enjoy the conference.... See you there.
Personal note
It will be my first openSUSE Conference and I don know most of you. Since I am
fully involved in the organization of the event, I doubt I have much time left
to talk, but I will do my best. Approach me and introduce yourself. I will
appreciate it.
I am excited about the Conference.
saludos

Heya all,
Soon, the conference starts. This is a BIG event and we currently have not
enough people yet who volunteered to help us out... We'll be needing help
in quite a few areas, including room chair(wo)men, helping out at the
registration desk and more.
