Not sure if this should be here on Project or in Factory....
Just a question... when openSUSE 11.3 is released is there any
possibility that we can provide a "easy" way to create a full install
from USB sticks?
There is a page written in the Wiki here:
http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick which details how to build a
LiveCD on a USB stick.... this works, but it's difficult for new
/inexperienced users to deal with.
unetbootin is another (multi-platform) option which works... kind of.
If you use unetbootin to create a bootable installer on USB using the
DVD iso as a source, you can install once you boot the USB stick, but
it's messy... the openSUSE GUI installer errors out during the initial
startup and drops you to a text based interface where you have to
fiddle with pointing at bootable partitions etc. to get it going
again. (this causes a bit of a panic with new users... at least it did
with the people that I was trying to help with installing openSUSE
11.2 on their Eee PC)
Would it be possible to create some USB friendly download for the 11.3
release that would work smoothly (ie create a bootable USB stick with
the full install iso)?

Moin,
participate in the openSUSE survey 2010 to give feedback to the openSUSE
project about the distribution, the openSUSE tools environment and the project
in general. Let us know where things are in good shape and areas where
improvement is needed. There are also some questions to get some demographic
knowledge about our users. The more we know in which direction our project
shall move the better we can address this. The survey will take about 8 mins.
The survey will be online till Feb 28, 2010 and we raffle amongst all
participants some t-shirts, openSUSE 11.2 boxes and 1 one really neat device
(most probably a Chumby). If you wanna participate in the raffle please
provide your email address at the end, if not just skip it.
Have a lot of fun! & Thanks for participating
Best
Michael

Hi,
I would like to add the openSUSE logo onto the web page "Who uses
MirrorBrain?" (http://mirrorbrain.org/users/).
On http://en.opensuse.org/Artwork, I found a nice logo, and I would
like to kindly ask for you permission of using it. I tentatively added
one to the web page just now, so you can see it in context. Of course,
I'll remove it at once if you prefer.
In addition, I would also like to make use of the logo in a
presentation about MirrorBrain that I plan to give on the upcoming
FOSDEM conference in Brussels. The context is, again, a list of
MirrorBrain users that I intend to enumerate, and which I would like
to visually enhance with logos of all of them. The presentation would
later be available as PDF file on the MirrorBrain project page, and it
might be filmed and thereby end up on YouTube and similar sites. Would
you mind me including your logo there?
I found no info on http://en.opensuse.org/Artwork about proper use of
the material, or about whom to contact, so I thought I'd just try
here. Of course, feel free to forward my request as needed.
Thanks a lot!
Peter

Hello everyone,
I'm sending a question here want it's now more than 6 months that I'm trying
to build a localised live CD of openSUSE with SuseStudio. Everything is fine
but I encounter a very big problem:
If I install the RPM Yast2-live-installer, the desktop file (on the desktop
or in the menu) asks via kdesu the live user for a root password. I've tried
many things (adding the user to sudoers, changing the parameters of the
desktop file, empty root password, etc...) but nothing does it right.
See here for a history:
http://n2.nabble.com/yast2-live-installer-asks-for-root-password-tp3344533e…
When I run the official oS live CD, everything goes fine: no password asked.
So I ask the question to some openSUSE GURU's who build these
official live CD:
What's the secret of the live CD?
I can't imagine distributing a live CD that asks for a password to install
itself on the computer and I don't want to make unsafe things like
"autologin as root" (someone gave me that as solution).
Thank you in advance for your help.
