Trouble Installing Linux on new G4 with Adaptec 2930CU SCSI card
After creating the partitions and copying the suseboot folder to the Linux boot partition, I restarted my machine. Linux starts to boot, but hangs when trying to address the SCSI card. Has anyone with a G4 had luck booting Linux with the Build to order SCSI adapter card in their machine? How can I get past this. Thanks. Ken Botwinick

Any special messages, any errors? Check the scsi cable first, the scsi termination.

We have some G4/450 machines here and they work just fine. Gruss Olaf -- $ man clone BUGS Main feature not yet implemented...

Here are the error messages that I get: scsi: 1 host scsi: aborting command due to timeout: pid 0, scsi 0, channel 0, id 0, lun 0 Test unit ready 00 00 00 00 00 scsi host 0 abort (pid 0) timed out - resetting scsi bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0 scsi host 0 channel 0 reset (pid 0) timed out - trying harder scsi bus is being reset for host 0 channel 0 (scsi 0:0:0:0) Synchronous @ 10 Mbyte/sec, offset 15 Then it just continues to repeat over and over. I just got the Power Domain app that lets you set prefs on the adaptec scsi adapter. When I switched the card from Ultra down to Asynchronous, Linus recognized the orb drive, but still would hang at that point and not go any farther. Hope this helps you. Ken
I was having trouble with the SCSI card, so I just took it out and then the installation continued. But now it gets stuck on: Partition check hda: lost interrupt. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.
