[opensuse-ppc] Alpha1 installation on PPC
Hi all, I have seen http://news.opensuse.org/2008/01/18/announcing-opensuse-110-alpha1/ Under ?Most annoying BUGS. PPC cannot be installed as the bootloader config can’t be written out. However, you can get a working PPC system when updating from alpha0 Apart from the above BUG. I face another blocker for Alpha1(kernel panic)(will update BUG no. soon). Alpha0 has the blocker issue.https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=346872 which is fixed. But where can I get installation Images for Alpha0 with above fix??? How can I proceed with installation on PPC64. --Regards Omar --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org

There is not much you can do with Alpha1 inst-sys, its miscompiled. Try to grab the DVD1/boot/ppc/root file from factory and replace the file in your alpha1 installation source. Upgrading from an earlier release worked ok, once you got through all the unresolved dependecies. Hi all, I do Community Distro Testing at IBM. Basically I test OpenSuSe/Fedora releases (GA and development) on PPC Hardware. I want to know meeting time(online timings)of OpenSuSe developers and testers. If any body can share OpenSuSe Test Plan, that will be great. I need contacts of PPC Team. --Regards Omar On Mon, 2008-01-21 at 18:46 +0530, Mohammed Omar wrote:

This will work in theory. But factory can not handle the gpg signed keys at the moment, yast rejects the installation source. So you have to wait a few days until this bug is fixed. I dont see a related bugzilla entry at the moment. But since this bug happens also on intel, it will be noticed and fixed quickly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+help@opensuse.org
