[suse-ppc] Installing SLES 8.0 on PowerMac G4
Hello, I'm trying to install SLES 8.0 on a PowerMac G4. I have the Macintosh HD and a clean IDE installed. When I boot from the CD and start the installation process, it says that no hard drives are found. Yet, if I boot the Mac OSX both hard drives are seen. How do I get the IDE drives to be recognized by the installation code? Thanks, Jim

How new is this G4? Gruss Olaf -- A: No. Q: Should I include quotations after my reply?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Does SLES 8 run on Power Macs? I had no idea that SLES ran on anything other than x86. I just looked at the product pages and it says that it will run on the IBM iSeries and pSeries which are PPC. I am running SuSE Linux Professional 7.3 on Power Mac G3's as servers, because I thought it was the latest version available. If there is a newer product out there that will run on Power Mac's, i am interested. If so, where do we get it? The online store only lists SLES 8 for x86. Of course not. Not even if you plugin CD 2 and press c during power-up. And I am not writing this from a PowerMac G4. Yes, it works. But we have not tested it on last years PowerMacs/iBooks/etc. (we don't have any). Ciao, Marcus
