[opensuse-ppc] openSUSE 12.2 for Power released!
Hi, "SHA1 sum is wrong" bug has been fixed, so we reached a stage where we can release openSUSE 12.2 for Power. So far we has been tested it on PowerMac, PowerStation and PowerVM(IBM pSeries Machines). You can install netinstall images on [1]. You can use it with [2] repo Known bug: *yaboot installed incorrectly on PowerMac, when ext4 or lvm is used on root. *there might be issues with X environment, as it wasn't tested. Have fun, Dinar [1] http://download.opensuse.org/ports/ppc/distribution/12.2/iso [2] http://download.opensuse.org/ports/ppc/distribution/12.2/repo/oss/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-ppc+owner@opensuse.org

I cross-graded from Factory to 12.2 (zypper dup) and lots of packages changed architecture ppc -> ppc64. Is that intentional? The previous Factory .isos installed ppc RPMs on my system with only the kernel-ppc64 package. Further, it seems that after it installed the new glibc 'rpm' is broken: Installing: glibc-2.15-22.6.29 ...................................[done] Installing: libaio1-0.3.109-10.1.13 .............................[error] Installation of libaio1-0.3.109-10.1.13 failed: (with --nodeps --force) Error: Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: Can't exec 'rpm' (No such file or directory). Abort, retry, ignore? [a/r/i] (a): Any suggestions? So 12.2 is a full biarch tree, both ppc32 and ppc64. Factory also had this, but I am not sure it ever fully build through. There also either is an issue with zypper dup doing a 32->64bit migration for either dependency or other magic reasons. This kind of switch might cause RPM not to work :/ So the switch somehow broke your RPM, likely by the glibc installation. Does rpm still work from the commandline? If not, you will need to manually bring a copy on the system and either update rpm to 64bit first, or isntall glibc-32bit.
