[opensuse-packaging] Postfix 3.x
Postfix 3.x has been released more then 18 month ago. There's already a upcoming 3.1... Right now there are no Postfix 3.x packages in the OBS at all. Even Factory is still on 2.2.11. Are there any plans to integrate Postfix 3.0 into Thumbleweed and the upcoming 42.1? The new 3.x is very interesting because of several security reasons and possibilities. I'm interesting in sponsoring the package creation. Postfix wird in openSUSE von jkeil@suse.com und michael@stroeder.com gepflegt. Ich denke Du solltest am Besten mit denen reden, ob sie Pläne für 3.x haben. I already asked Michael several month ago. He'd also like to have Postfix 3.x, but he's busy and doesn't have time to do this. He told me to ask here on the mailing list... Then I'll take a look. My time for this is somewhat limited but I'll never-the-less see what can be done. Philipp -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Actually while Philipp is looking into packaging for Factory/Tumbleweed I'd like to outline that it still would be a big question mark if Postfix 3 then should or could end up on 42.1. As you probably know 42.1 is meant to share the basesystem with SLE12 and most of the server packages are counted as basesystem here. As I'm running several mailservers I'm somehow interested in 3.0 in 42.1 but then again I see two major concerns: 1. is anything incompatible between 3.0 and the 42.1 base system? (at least YaST still has some mailserver module which must must still work after an update) 2. is the (or an alternative) maintainer ready to support this package for the upcoming longer lifetime of 42.1?
