[opensuse-packaging] Factory -> Leap packages status monitor
Hi, Inspired by the thread with @tiwai in M17N list, I created this: https://forum.suse.org.cn/leap.html This shows packages that are in Factory but not in Leap. The webpage generates from a ruby script from me and refreshes every 6 hours (a cron job) So packagers please help yourselves, just take a look and see if your packages are left behind. Hey Marguerite, thanks for the reminder! There's also https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor/openSUSE:42:Factory-Candidates-Ch... That project contains packages that are in Factory but not 42 and builds against 42. Everything that succeeds in there should be low hanging fruits for submission to 42. Maybe it would make sense to mass file submit requests for those. So package maintainer only have to ack the requests. cu Ludwig -- (o_ Ludwig Nussel //\ V_/_ http://www.suse.com/ SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Dilip Upmanyu, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Ludwig, I know I have packages in Candidates that show success, but have unsatisfiable requires statements so not all the fruit is low hanging. Ie. Success means all Buildrequires: are satisfied by :42, but says nothing about Requires: Greg -- Sent from my Android device with K-9 Mail. So every package in that page is _not_ included in Leap? Without actually installing Leap, I would say that the following are present - btrfsprogs - glibc - grub2 - libzypp But still, they are present at https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor/openSUSE:42:Factory-Candidates-Ch... Hi All,
As the Enlightenment maintainer i'd prefer that the e17 prefixed packages don't get submitted to 42, i'm only interested in maintaining the latest release there (enlightenment prefixed packages) and maybe e16 (If I get time). Thanks a lot! Can you make a similar list for packages that are in SLE, but not in Leap, please? Or add a comment at the Leap list saying something like "also available in the SLE sources"? Background: The SLE sources come with "maintenance for free", so IMHO we should use them whenever possible. (At least if they fit - as a counter- example, I have a SR pending to update Leap to AppArmor 2.10 ;-)
Maybe it would make sense to mass file submit requests for those. So package maintainer only have to ack the requests.
If the request mentions that this comes with the expectation of maintaining this package for $time - why not? Please (first!) do the same for the SLE packages that are not in Leap yet. All source container? This one: osc ls -e SUSE:SLE-12:Update Please note that this will have the maintenance updates container, so you might want to skip them using | egrep -v '\.[0123456789]*$' -- Adrian Schroeter email: adrian@suse.de SUSE Linux GmbH, GF: Felix Imendörffer, Jane Smithard, Graham Norton, HRB 21284 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstraße 5 90409 Nürnberg Germany -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Marguerite, osc ls -e SUSE:SLE-12-SP1:GA lists you all packages of SLE12SP1, including the ones inherited from SLE12 GA Cheers, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Two shortcomings: 1. I didn't filter things specfic in update repo, like patchinfo.xxx MozillaFirefox.xxx, this can be done... 2. I don't know if anyone can send SR from SLE to Leap. so I didn't filter those pending SRs from SLE. Ok, then disregard my other mail on the way :) you know already about it

Yes, it's possible to submit SRs from there as well, just like from openSUSE:Factory... no limitation. Cheers, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

You might want to filter out packages .*\.[0-9]+ like those: MozillaFirefox.117 MozillaFirefox.317 MozillaFirefox.441 MozillaFirefox.517 MozillaFirefox.544 MozillaFirefox.629 MozillaFirefox.754 MozillaFirefox.962 It's just the various iterrations of MozillaFirefox that were published in the SLE update channel. Hi, here is the maintainer of R-base. d:l:R:released/R-base R-base buildrequires texinfo >= 5.1 and leap seems to stay with texinfo4 which is quite old. (I think 6.x ist current) Therefore its status is "unresolvable" for leap at the moment. On the other hand R-base builds fine in factory. What would be the way to get it to build for and included in leap? For R-patched I link to a newer texinfo but that seems somehow wrong for leap ? Any help appreciated. What features of texinfo >= 5.1 does it really need? In other words: is it perhaps possible with some easy changes (if any are required at all) to make it work with texinfo 4.13a?
Therefore its status is "unresolvable" for leap at the moment.

Well, there are only three cases: * make R not build info pages * make R work with texinfo 4.13a * update Leaps texinfo to something newer It's not ruled out alltogether to update Leap packages from those on SLE12, but it needs to have good reasons weighed against the disadvantage of having to maintain it outside SLE then.
