[opensuse-packaging] confused by e2fsprogs versions

All, I have a patch for e2fsprogs 1.41.14 I want to package / test. I see 1.41.14 in the opensuse 11.4 standard repo. But since I'm wanting to build this for factory, I also look there, but I only find a 1.41.11 version and its not in the main repo. Just the filesystems repo. I can link branch the one in 11.4 easy enough, but what I'm see makes no sense to me. http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=e2fsprogs&baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.4&lang=en&exclude_debug=true http://software.opensuse.org/search?q=e2fsprogs&baseproject=openSUSE%3AFactory&lang=en&exclude_debug=true Thanks for clarification Greg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Hi, Someone will surely correct me if I am wrong, but what you want to do is branch off the package in filesystems and then SR the changes there. Then it gets pushed to Factory when its ready. In general, the idea is every package has a -devel project, then feeds these into Factory. Peter, My confusion is that the e2fsprogs package in its devel project has a lower version than the 11.4 standard version, and there doesn't seem to be a version of e2fsprogs in factory at all. I suspect someone is in the middle of something, so I will steer clear of everything but 11.4:standard for now. All, please ignore, I figured it out. The devel repo (filesystems) does have the lastest version, but they don't have publishing enabled, so I'm only seeing the older version in the download/search interface. Why that would be I don't know, but I'm not too concerned. Greg On Mon, Apr 4, 2011 at 3:25 PM, Greg Freemyer <greg.freemyer@gmail.com> wrote:

software.opensuse.org's index is not updated for factory very often ;( Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

The buildservice has 1.41.14 in Factory, 11.4 and the devel project: https://build.opensuse.org/package/files?package=e2fsprogs&project=openSUSE%3A11.4 https://build.opensuse.org/package/files?package=e2fsprogs&project=openSUSE%3AFactory https://build.opensuse.org/package/files?expand=1&package=e2fsprogs&project=filesystems "filesystems" is the devel project, you should branch from there. That said: you are right that the software.o.o search looks outdated and incomplete for Factory :-( Is someone on this list who can check (and fix) this? Regards, Christian Boltz --
