[opensuse-packaging] State of libreoffice-branding-openSUSE
Hi all, During a FOSS event, this week-end I had contact with a member of the LibreOffice project. He asked me if, in openSUSE, we include a special branding for the Libreoffice suite. I checked and it appears that the package libreoffice-branding-openSUSE is not available anymore in Leap (not maintained ?). Does anyone of you know the reason for it or has any news of the state of this package ? Cheers, -- 'When there is no more room at school, the dumb will walk the Earth.' Sébastien 'sogal' Poher

Looks like we switched to upstream branding 3 years ago: # osc log -D openSUSE:Factory libreoffice-branding-openSUSE | head -n5 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- r19 | dimstar_suse | 2015-08-06 22:15:31 | 64ed675fbbf3227e365ad944bcac3e2d | 4.0 | rq320358 Discussed with richard, we wanna upstream branding. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- rq320358 means https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/320358 which will tell you the same as the package log ;-) openSUSE 13.2 was the last release with a libreoffice-branding-openSUSE package (see "osc se libreoffice-branding-openSUSE"). openSUSE 13.2 was the last release with a libreoffice-branding-openSUSE package (see "osc se libreoffice-branding-openSUSE").
Thank you for the answer and reminding me to use "osc log". I should have check the logs of the upstream branding package, glad to know that dropping custom branding was made after a decision and not because it was unmaintained. Regards,
From memory it was just as much about no one being able to / having time to create updated branding that worked with the new version of
libreoffice and matched the branding of the rest of the distro. For the release of leap all our branding underwent significant changes and the packages that weren't updated were dropped. The main noticeable thing that the libreoffice branding provided was an openSUSE splash screen at start up rather then the upstream libreoffice one. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adelaide Australia, UTC+10:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
