[opensuse-packaging] How do I get a link into factory after splitting a package into two packages?
I'm (attempting to) splitting lilypond into a program with info package and a linked lilypond-doc package due to the fact that the doc package has an extremely long build time and very often has build failures. How do I go about submitting the link package to factory? Just submit the new lilypond with the two spec files, that should be enough. Cheers, Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks, I thought it must be simple, so factory automatically creates the link on accept? Will a link be created in multimedia:apps on submission or do I have to make one? I believe so.

No, you need to create it yourself. Also make sure to change the devel package of the link you create: osc changedevelrequest multimedia:libs lilypond-doc multimedia:libs lilypond (so that people don't modify lilypond-doc directly) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org

Are you sure? The kernel uses "osc linkpak ..." to create various packages. One package per specfile. The specfiles have to match the package name. Thus if you look at kernel:head as an example: https://build.opensuse.org/project/packages?project=Kernel%3AHEAD I believe kernel-source is the master package, and most of the others are links. You will see there are several spec files in there. Each of the various linked packages only use the specfile with the same name as the linked package name. My mail was probably not clear :-) I implied that the link package is automatically created in Factory, not that it is not needed.
