OVERALL.
great summary, thanks.
Opponents start killing off Group tag even though that goes directly against the goal of the Group/Tags subproject and its Supporters. Bad.
Opponents claim "it was decided", but this decision was at best unilateral and there is anything _but_ consensus about the removal. In doing so, they also overstep other maintainers [SR 738421]. Very bad.
Although I'm far away from the center of decisions in the openSUSE project, I also have the gut feeling that a) this topic has not been discussed until the end, and b) no agreed decision has ever been made (or published).
So maybe some of us all have already started with the seemingly easy and tempting task to remove the Group tags - I for myself almost fell in that same mood/trap (but refrained from sending a SR because I wanted to wait for the "official decision", and then removed my branches again).
I personally like Groups. For sure, re-assigning some packages to other Groups may be necessary now and also in future - still I see it's the best categorization we currently have.
Have a nice day, Berny
