That's what I said in my mail: I was simply the fastest to update the package. If you look at my changes, then you can see that I merely updated the package to a new upstream version, and did nothing else most of the time...
Anyway, again, I'm just asking for help from other people. I'm not saying I'll stop working on the bugs or poppler in general -- this would be plain wrong.
