There are two cases that can happen: 1) the dispatch slave sends the job again to the master dispatcher. In this case, the job will get assigned to a different worker, which will then abort with an error in the send_dispatched call. 2) the worker is unable to do the send_dispatched call. After 10 minutes the dispatch slave will re-sync with the master dispatcher and the job will be assigned to another worker Thus it's acceptable to have this race to make dispatching much faster.
