Speaker - microphone configuration
Hi, I'm a linux novice but I'm having the following problem and I'd appreciate any help. There are no running applications on my linux machine but whatever sounds my microphone picks up are played out through my speakers! What's causing this and how do I stop it? If your using KDE desktop, and I assume you are, the open up kmix (right click on empty area of desktop, choose Run Command and type kmix). Then you'll see a symbol of a mic. Under this there will be a red button, looks kinda like a little lite. Click on this if it's brighter (enabled) then the rest - it should go darker. If this is not the case then repost with the version of the sound card and the desktop our using, of and the version of SuSE also. HTH, Curtis. That is to lock in markets, stiffle competition and pidgeon hole consumers from any viable alternatives that the sponsers see as competitive and a threat to their market shares and business models.

Hi! kmix (as almost every other mixer) gives you two controls - playback and recording. The red button on bottom chooses the recording source, you can leave it bright (on). The green button on top shows that the channel is being played, means it amplifies every input it gets from your microphone and passes to the speakers. You can try to turn off the playback completely by clicking on the (bright) green button, or simply slide the volume regulator down. Should help :) Good luck Eduard __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Sign up now. http://mailplus.yahoo.com
