Hi,
I have almost the same problem. My motherboard is a Asus A7V8X-X which has a Via8233 soundcard on board. This is based on a AD1980 soundchip (I learned from reading an interesting article in C't (Deutsch) nr 24.) In Suse 8.1 I get a bootmessage 'analog subsystem not ready'. And no sound at all. So I tried SUSE 9.0. This gives no bootmessage, but also no sound. So I have downloaded the newest alsa-driver (9.8), but I still have to install it. With OS/2 (my former love) the uniaud driver crashes at boot time. For Win NT there is no driver. That does not really matter, but I have no proof that the hardware is ok. It is encouraging to read that there is no problem with SuSE 8.2. But that one is missing here (6.3, 8.0, 8.1, 9.0)
Greatings Marc
Well thanks to all for your replies. My problem fixed :) I just downloaded the update AMD Athlon kernel from SuSE YOU and everything works fine. Marc try to do the same if you have the AMD Athlon kernel. A big thanks to the SuSE people for updating the kernel :)
