Has anyone been able to configure onboard sound in an IntelD865GBF mainboard? In YaST2 it states that my sound is configured properly but I know that's not the case.
The AD1985 chipset is not listed on the ALSA website as being supported. The Intel website documents this problem with SuSE 8.2 and offers a driver to be manually installed. This driver is for an AD1885 chipset which is already included in my SuSE 8.2 distro. It's installation had no effect at all.OSS drivers "4Front" just mucked up my system.
SuSE support was of little help so any input you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Try alsaconf. It worked in a "problem" case for me with 8.2, on my Toshiba laptop.

Thanks Mel for the quick reply!
I tried alsaconf but it just keeps installing the same driver with the same result.
I'm curious to know if your Toshiba laptop has a AD1985 chipset?
No, it's got the Yamaha OPL3 audio system. Keep hammerin' away! Good Luck!
