I am running SuSE 9.1 Professional on an Alienware Area-51M notebook computer...
Whenever I reboot the sound does not work.. I can get it back by running the Alsa Volume Control and unchecking the boxes for ICE958, ICE958 Capture Monitor ICE958 Capture Valid and ICE958 Plaback Source.
Is there a way to make this change permanent? It is becoming a mild annoyance to have to remember to do this everytime I reboot.
Thank you, Scott

Dave,
I checked the Controll Center Sound Mixer and the little box for Load Volumes at login has a little X in it... So I assume that means that it will load the volumes at login?

Provided they were saved and nothing else overrides them see Jim's post.
I don't autostart any mixers and my sound always comes back to where it was sitting when I saved the volume settings.
There are too many hands that tweak the control knobs on sound cards.

PS: Also, you have to watch out for mismatched hardware ids in the mixers. But since you can actually use the mixer to get things back your basic setup is correct as far as being able to control the hardware.

Have a look here, it may (not) be a solution http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/thallma_91_sndsilence.html HTH Jim
