Hello I'm reasonably sure I tested kscd with success last week, but I can't make it work anymore!
work that is read a cd. It launches but say "no cd" when VLC or kaffeine play it
klaunching kscd in an xterm, I could see a gstreamer error. looking with yast, I notice gstreamer was not the pm version, so I changed to pm, but with no change according to kscd
kscd MusicBrainz: Connecting to http://musicbrainz.org:80 MusicBrainz: GET /ws/1/release/?type=xml&discid=ZzKLG.0x4pPmi6eVVhadC30qt34- MusicBrainz: Result: 0 (200 OK) MusicBrainz: Status: 200 MusicBrainz: Response: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><metadata xmlns="http://musicbrainz.org/ns/mmd-1.0#" xmlns:ext="http://musicbrainz.org/ns/ext-1.0#"><release-list></release-list></metadata>
cd reads from /dev/cdrom

It's a gstreamer backend related problem, the phonon-backend-xine works.
Dave P Sorry, you need phonon-backend-xine installed, there's also a vlc backend phonon-backend-vlc available from openSUSE, haven't tried it yet. Another phonon-backend-gstreamer-0_10 bug is it keeps on installing mp3 support but the next time you start it asks to install it again.
