[SLE] Windows emulator for Linux - here WINE again -6th try-

SuSe 8.0 hangs on sound card init

Folks, I did a fresh install of SuSe 8.0 on a new MicronPC Millenia XP+ machine (AMD). This has the nForce 420 chip set which contains the MCP (media & communication processor) and APU (audio processor unit). After Yast2 installs it tells me the sound card was detected and configured just fine. Next Yast reboots my PC to finish installation and that goes perfectly. However, the next time I do a reboot, my PC hangs at the start sound card step. Any idea how to fix this? Thanks, Babu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Dear all, I really tried hart, but could not find a good solution in Linux to record TV/videos from my BT878 TV Card. The main issue is, which codec and record tool to use. So far my studies had following results: Record Tools: - broadcast 2000 - ffmpeg - dvr (does not compile propperly under suse 7.3: format.h missing - Anybody any hints ?) - mjpeg tools - use lavrec to record. But there is no clear documentation, whether bttv based TV cards are already supported. Codecs: - Divx 4/5 - MPEG 2 - MJPEG Some of my questions are: - Does anybody have found good solution to record directly to MPEG2 or Divx ? If so, which software does the job ? - Has anybody experience with the mjpeg tools, and whether they can be used with bt878 TV Cards? - is there a tool, which can be used to record directly into divx, or is divx kept in a Quicktime wrapper? - Can broadcast 2000 record in divx somehow ? Full screen TV

Suse 7.1 & 8.0 Kwintv is working at about half my screen size. When going to full screen the borders expand but not the picture. I am wondering what modules or configuration will give me a full screen picture. I am using the Nvidia glx drivers. Brian Marr

ATI TV Wonder PCI + SuSe 8.0

Hi, When I installed SuSe 8.0 it automatically detected and "configured" my TV card. However, when I tried Xawtv it locked up my machine and I had to reboot. I tried kwintv, it didn't lock up my machine but I just get static. Any pointer how to correctly set it up ? Thanks, Babu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
