Einfrierendes System durch USB-Ports

Hallo, nach einem Update von 8.1 auf 8.2 auf meinem Laptop (FSC Amilo A) funktionieren von den drei USB-Ports zwei nicht mehr. Am ersten USB-Port funktionieren alle Geräte (Maus, Memory-Stick, Digicam). Auch ein Wechsel der Geräte am ersten Port (von Maus auf Memory-Stick) funktioniert. Wird jedoch ein USB-Gerät an den zweiten bzw. dritten USB-Port angeschlossen, friert das System augenblicklich (ohne Fehlermeldung) und komplett (lediglich Ausschalten des Laptops ist möglich) ein. Hat jemand das gleiche Problem bzw. einen Lösungsvorschlag? Gruss Michael Schilling

Hallo, wie kann ich auf meinem Notebook zusätzlich zu meinem internen Monitor einen externen konfigurieren? Geht das mit sax2? (Habe bislang keine Option für mehrere Monitorkonfigurationen gefunden.) Danke für Eure Hilfe! Gruss Florian

second monitor problem with 8.2

Hello, I have a laptop running Suse8.2. Recently I connected an external TFT monitor (SyncMaster 191T with 1280*1040 resolution), but I do not manage to configure such that I get a good picture on the screen , at least not via yast2 - the picture is always cut off in some places. Can somebody recommend a way how to solve this? The system does not even respond to my wishes to change resolution etc. Looking into /etc/X11/XF68Config I see Section "Monitor" Option "CalcAlgorithm" "CheckDesktopGeometry" DisplaySize 320 240 HorizSync 30-90 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "1400X1050@60HZ" Option "DPMS" VendorName "--> LCD" VertRefresh 40-60 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection but even if I change to the 1280*1040 suitable for the screen it does not work. Laptop als Router mit zwei PCMCIA Netzwerkkarten

Hallo, ich habe einen Toshiba Tecra 8000 mit zwei 3Com PCMCIA Netzwerkkarten, den ich gerne mit SuSE 8.2 als DSL-Router einrichten möchte. In Slot 0 steckt die 10 MBit Karte für das DSL-Modem, in Slot 1 die 100 MBit Karte für mein Netzwerk. Für beide Karten will ich eine statische IP-Nummer vergeben, wobei die für die erste Karte nur ein Dummy-Eintrag ist. Leider "vergißt" YaST immer die Konfiguration der zweiten Netzwerkkarte, egal ob ich DHCP oder statische Adresse wähle. Die zweite Netzwerkkarte bekommt entweder die gleiche IP-Nummer wie die erste, oder garkeine (wenn ich in der ifconfig Ausgabe nichts übersehen habe). Wenn ich anschließend wieder mit YaST mir die Konfiguration der Netzwerkkarte ansehe, fehlt die zuvor konifugierte IP-Nummer. Im März 2002 gab es auf dieser Liste eine sehr ähnliche Anfrage, jedoch ohne Antwort. Ansonsten habe ich mit Google auch nichts weiter gefunden. Wer kann mir weiter helfen? Glen

Hallo, da nach 4 Kernel und mehr als 30 Mal kompilieren X immer noch nicht gestartet hat, hab ich RH 9a installiert und es lief von Anfang an, auch Audio AC97 wurde gleich erkannt. Muß ja nicht immer Suse sein. Problem mit Inspiron 8500 mit 1920x1200 Auflösung und nvidia Treiber

Hallo, ich habe hier einen Dell Inspiron 8500 mit einer GForce 4 4200 Go. Das Display ist ein WUXGA mit möleich Auflösung von 1920x1200 bei 60Hz. Installiert ist SuSE 8.2 Zur Zeit sind mit dem nvidia-Treiber problemlos 1680x1050 bei 24 bit möglich (XFconfig1680.txt). Wenn ich die Auflösung mit 1920x1200 einstellen möchte (XFconfig1920.txt), so erhalte ich verschobene Doppelbilder mit dem nvidia-Treiber - bei benutzen des nv-Treibers klappt die Auflösung, jedoch kein Umschalten auf die Konsole mehr. Beim Suchen im www fand ich unter http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/G.Wilford/Inspiron8500/ die XF86config http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Personal/G.Wilford/Inspiron8500/files/XF86Config… eine XF86config, welche angeblich die von mir gewünschte 1920x1200 macht, jedoch nur unter RedHat. Wenn ich die dort zur Verfügung gestellte XFconffig bei mir einsetze, so erscheint nach Starten von X nur der NVidia-Startbildschirm (allerdings klar und nicht als Doppelbild), nicht jedoch der dann normalerweise folgende Anmeldebildschirm. Weis vielleicht jemand Rat, wie ich bei mir die 1920x1200-Auflösung mit dem NVidia-Treiber einstellen kann. Anhängend mal mein XFconfig1650(1920).txt. Hallo, Das ist jetzt kein direktes Laptop-Thema, aber da ich im Moment nur auf der Laptop-Liste angemeldet bin ... Bisher hatte ich Evolution 1.4.x von www.usr-local-bin.org auf meinen SuSE 8.2 Maschinen noch nicht zum Laufen gekriegt (Ursache: unbefriedigte Abhaengigkeiten). Inzwischen habe ich aber eine Loesung gefunden (mit 1.4.3); 1. Editieren von /etc/ld.so.conf und einfuegen von /opt/mozilla/lib und anschliessendes Ausfuehren von ldconfig (wird so auch auf www.usr-local-bin.org empfohlen, war aber fuer 1.2.4 nicht notwendig!) 2. Installation von libgnomeui und libgnomeprintui von den SuSE 8.2 CDs 3. Installation der 1.4.3 Pakete Vielleicht hilft es ja jemandem :-) Hello, This is not directly a laptop issue, but since I'm only on SuSE-Laptop at the moment ... Until now I had no luck getting Evolution 1.4.x from www.usr-local-bin.org to run on either of my 8.2 boxen due to depency issues. Using 1.4.3 I got a solution now: 1. Edit /etc/ld.so.conf and append /opt/mozilla/lib to it and run ldconfig thereafter (this is recommended that way on www.usr-local-bin.org , but had not been necessary for 1.2.4!) 2. Probleme mit neuem Laptop Amilo D 7830

Hallo ! Ich habe mir einen neuen Laptop Amilo D 7830 von Fujitsu-Siemens gekauft und folgende große Probleme unter Linux: - Das Touchpad wird nicht gefunden. GPM sagt, das das Device /dev/psaux nicht vorhanden ist. - Per FritzPCMCIA von AVM komme nicht ins Internet. Die Karte wird zwar erkannt und die Module sauber geladen, aber die Einwahl ins Internet bleibt einfach hängen: Plugin /etc/ppp/plugins/userpass.so loaded. userpass: $Revision: 1.3 $ Plugin /etc/ppp/plugins/capiplugin.so loaded. capiplugin: $Revision: 1.28 $ capiconn: 1.7 capiplugin: phase serialconn. capiplugin: contr=1 controller 1: listen_change_state 0 -> 1 contr 1: listenconf Info=0x0000 (No additional information) infomask=0x144 cipmask=0x0 capimask2=0x0 controller 1: listen_change_state 1 -> 0 - APM wird nicht erkannt. Folgende Meldungen kommen beim Booten: APM: no bios apm unused by kernel Habe per lilo.conf (acpi=off) schon versucht ACPI auszuschalten, was das Problem aber nicht gelöst hat. - WinModem wird nicht gefunden. Laut Windows habe ich ein internes Modem von von Smartlink. Habe auch deren Linuxtreiber kompiliert und geladen, aber leider wird per kppp das Modem nicht gefunden. Habe SuSE 8.2 und Kernel 2.4.22pre7 installiert. Dirk
