[opensuse-marketing] Linux.com Friends System
Hey folks, I signed up to Linux.com so I have a profile for my article http://www.linux.com/component/content/article/81-applications/372958-collab... I thought it might be fun to test out their 'friends' system so please feel free to 'add' me. I wondered if it would be helpful to have something of a visible openSUSE 'network' of people at Linux.com cheers Helen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

Ha! Perhaps I was getting a little overenthusiastic there... we do have social networks coming out of our ears. This looks like a reasonably passive one for the most part. Reminds me of Hendrik's "Less is More" - there really is so much out there, it's hard to know where the key places are. (Especially for a newcomer like myself). cheers Helen -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
Less may be more but visibility is important and we do need to grow openSUSE mindshare in the world.
However, just signing up for any old network and then not being active is akin to guerrilla advertising. We don't want hit and run presence because it may become much harder to maintain or update that presence down the road.
What I would recommend folks to do is do try out different networks (like what you are doing) and try to become knowledgeable in how that network works effectively and report back to the rest of the team with advice on best practices for that network.
Distributed knowledge is power!
Keep up the great work Helen
