[opensuse-marketing] Talks Templates
Salute! ¿Is there any OO impress template? As Ambassadors, in my opinion, we all must have the same template to make our talks. If we are allowed to have one and if the coordinators agree with me, I can make a proposal of it. Best regards. -- Atte. Luis Lastra C. As I pointed out in another post before Community Week[1], I don't think this template is assumed to be used by Non-Novell community contributers. The reasons why I don't think so, are: - There are some Novell logos in this template and especially, there's a credit in page 2 that says '$DATE Novell Inc.' I think this leads to misunderstanding that the document is officially written by Novell person. - As you can see in page 6 (last page), there's a 'General Disclaimer' that says: [snip] Further, Novell,Inc, reserves the right to revise this document and to make change to its content, at any time, without obligation to notify any person or entity of such revisions or changes. [snip] If I understand correctly, this means, even if the document is written by Non-Novell community contributers, Novell has the right to modify the document without notification. And, this 'General Disclaimer' can not be edited by authers. :-( [1] http://lists.opensuse.org/archive/opensuse-marketing/2009-05/msg00023.html

I think we had better have another template that can be used by whole community members. So, Luis, I would also welcome if you make a proposal. Sure. I think its better to have another template to Ambassadors,
because we aren't Novell or openSUSE employees.
We can work in 2 templates, 1 for openSUSE members(e,g Zonker) and
another to Ambassadors. I don't know if Zonker will prefer use the
Novell template, but...
But we can use some simple logo, like twitter logo in bottom of
template and use black or white background.
Its just my 2 cents, I think which we have more ideas and suggestions!
All the Best,

Well I am a local ambassador and yet an openSUSE member (not employed by Novell) and I don't care that much for having Novell to do whatever they want with my presentation as long as my name is on it ;), and still at this point in time openSUSE is strongly (think) sponsored by Novell so I find it kind of fair to have a Novell logo somewhere in the presentation's template. Of course I know openSUSE!=SUSE. Hey guy!
Novell isn't the problem. The problem is: use a template for Novell
employees, but we aren't employees.
I just don't want confusion about us and Novell. I really want to
work at Novell, because I really like openSUSE, but I'm a volunteer,
an Ambassador which works to promote openSUSE.
I think which Zonker or another Novell employees can help us with this
question. We can/can't use?
All the Best.

I agree with you... It could be great to work on openSUSE as a Novell employ, and do not have to complain about the few time to develop to the openSUSE community. We should have a openSUSE community's template (made by a Novell employ or not, this ain't the question). It just need keep the focus on openSUSE itself not on Novell logos and trademarks.
I think which Zonker or another Novell employees can help us with this question. We can/can't use?
All the Best.

The template that's up right now is probably only suitable for Novell
employess (*or reallybig fans of Novell, I guess...) .
You can remove the last slides that have the disclaimers, if you want.
But a new template would be a good idea.
Note that I'm in favor of having a template that any Ambassador can
use, as well as some prepared presentations that any ambassador could
use too -- but not in favor of saying "Ambassadors *must use this
template." -- Some people like to do original presentations that may
not work stock templates.

Zonker

I agree to have a separate template. I am a government employee who do
volunteer my time to do talks on OpenSUSE to local community colleges.
While I do that on my spare time, the Novell logo might prove to be a
potential conflict of interest.

But, of course each ambassador is expected to get the mandatory Novell
tattoo. That won't be a problem, will it? ;-)
