We're proud to announce the official kickoff of the openSUSE Travel Support Program. This program will provide openSUSE contributors with some financial support for traveling to conferences and events where they represent openSUSE.
It's a quarterly budget which can support a good number of people.
The funds are limited so we'll make the best to support as many people as possible. It's reimbursement mode. We'll reimburse after approved only hotel or travel or both up to 80% and up to the amount approved.

Congratulations I think that would be a very useful thing for the ambassador program.

One question:
Why is this only for Members? Some of us contribute and might have more commits then some so called 'members', but we might not want "Membership" under the definition that the 'political commissars' are trying to impose.
This to say... why is this only for members and not for active contributors? No one thought about it? There are people who might help openSUSE through several forms but that refuse to tag along in the recent "Member" drama. Are this people unqualified for this ?
I would like to see this clarified please.

Maybe is something about "The openSUSE Travel support Program supports community members with the goal of spreading the word of openSUSE and build up local communities." If is the case the meaning is: any person active on our communitty is welcome to apply.
Better read the whole page.

Please, consider the following extracts, 'ipsis verbis':

This seem quite objective under "Travel Policy", and I don't really see any "contributor" there. Thanks for looking into this.
